🎉 Campus Fest: August 22nd, 3–5 PM in Jarvis B Lot
📚 Fall Info Meeting: August 26th at 7:30 PM — location TBD
🐎 Tryouts: September 6th, 3–5 PM at the Skibbereen Farm!

Don’t be nervous about tryouts! Tryouts are simply an opportunity for us to assess everyone’s riding level and help place riders appropriately. No one is cut, and beginners or those with no experience at all are absolutely welcome! 💙

ISO: Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Sunday  stable help 8:30- 12:30
Feed & water (10) horses, clean stalls, turnout & bring in & out of paddocks, sweep, dust and general barn cleanup.
Horse experience is a MUST. My horses are sweet but BIG, so you must have experience in handling them

Happiness that brings tears to my eyes……..

My oldest senior Stormy whose eyesight has deteriorated dramatically these last couple of months (and who lost his old Bestie, Sara last summer) has found a new best friend and protector in Alessandro. The other horses tend to bully him, but Alessandro is nothing but kind and gentle. It is remarkable to watch. ♥️☘️♥️

T’was the night before Christmas and I'm out at the barn, checking the horses- making sure they’re all warm.

They're munching on hay, tucked cozy in stalls. Not aware that it's Christmas or a special time at all.

They dream of green pastures from their pine-scented beds. No visions of sugarplums dance in their heads.

This season is special, but the horses don't know. They safely eat their hay out of the cold.

It's nearly midnight now, the songs are all sung, then I remember a story told when I was young.

How our horses can all speak to us with ease and delight, on this very special Christmas Eve night.

I walk to the stable, going thru the barnyard.
Reasons unknown, a calling I can’t disregard.

I slide open the door stand there and smile,
Then slowly I walk down the dimly lit aisle.

A nicker from Elton, a soft snort from Chloe, then sweet little Owen makes my heart race on.

A sleepy look from Otis, a quick kiss from Zilly, and a long yawn from Stormy while he reaches for my hand.

Parker’s eyes twinkle in the light and Liam crunches a peppermint with delight. Allesandro lets out a sigh, Calani comes into sight; their presence makes me feel warmer as I walk through the [unseasonably warm] night.

I think about parties bright lit and warm,
The ones we don't go to because of the farm.

And vacations and holidays that we usually don't get, because of the animals and chores to be met.

Walking back to the end of the barn aisle,
I stop to stroke Stormy, and linger awhile.

The horses stop eating, their ears they all lend, and together we all recall a few lost friends. 🧡

In heaven now is where BBQ, Bid, Dexter and Sara rest their heads. They and others watching from their cloud feather beds.

I could be at parties with laughter and mirth. But here, where I am right now is the best place on Earth.
