Fenix’s story is proof that progress is possible at True Companions 🐦‍🔥

When Fenix was originally brought to our shelters, he was afraid and in pain due to severely inflamed skin and a mite infestation. He also struggled with two tick-borne illnesses. Though his road to recovery is not yet finished, Fenix is doing much better. Our veterinary professionals provide Fenix with daily antibiotics, antifungals, allergy medication, and weekly medicated baths.

It’s been a little over 3 months since we launched our rebrand, and we’re elated with the response from our supporters, volunteers, and vibrant community. True Companions now represents what matters most to all of us—the deep connections fostered between animals and people.

A change this big isn’t made lightly, and was made easier due to the incredible partnerships between our animals and those individuals who make our life-saving work possible. Nutmeg is a 3-year-old Bull terrier/Chihuahua mix who is affectionately referred to as a “little Big dog.” Nutmeg promises his future family a life full of playtime, curiosity, and understanding.

A little about Nutmeg: life with Nutmeg is never boring. He is still working on some of his manners, but with a little patience and consistency, this adorable guy is bound to become the best sidekick a person could ask for.

Meet Elsa ❄️

Elsa is a 4-year-old ragdoll who is sure to steal your heart if you let her! Relinquished due to no fault of her own, Elsa is looking for her fur-ever home.

When she initially arrived at our shelter, this beautiful girl’s fur was so matted and dirty that she needed a full body shave. She is still growing her fur back, but don’t worry! The fur she currently has is super soft. A little bit about her: Elsa is what we call a cuddle cat. She is very affectionate, loves being in your lap, and really enjoys physical touch. She’s also an extrovert, sharing her every thought with a chatty meow.

Elsa also has some medical needs, including not making it to the litterbox sometimes. She’s also never met any dogs, and this is her first time being around other cats, so staff is not sure how she might do with other animals. If you have a dog or cat at home, our staff can test Elsa to see if she does well with others.

June Fund-A-Need 🐦‍🔥

You know the saying: from the ashes, a phoenix rises. We believe the same goes for those vulnerable animals that wouldn’t normally get the second chance they deserve.

Meet Fenix, a 3-year-old Anatolian Shepherd who came to us after being found in a field, riddle with Mange. This typically fluffy and very sweet boy was brought in nearly hairless, with secondary skin infections and two tick borne diseases. Thankfully, our dedicated veterinary team can provide him with the treatment he needs to return to his fluffiest form.
