It is with very heavy hearts that we share the news of our beloved Shadow's passing on September 29th, 2026.

Twelve years ago, a 12-week-old Heeler, Bulldog, Shar-Pei mix made the trip from New Mexico to Colorado Puppy Rescue. We adopted him, brought him to work, and he never missed a day after that. He grew up at American Dog and became one of the great American Dog toy testers.

Many of you know him best from his toy testing videos with Tina Anderson. He would wait patiently beside her while she sewed a new toy, then follow her to the photo booth and wait some more while she took the pictures. When she was done, he always got the toy.

Shadow was full of love, full of energy, and he never lost his passion for play. He belonged to Hayley, Tina J, Makenna, and Cayden, but everyone who works here will tell you he was theirs too.

He is back with Gracie now. Our lives and our work days will not be the same without him, but a shadow never really leaves your side.

Love to all,
Hayley, Tina J, Makenna, Cayden, and the entire American Dog Family
