FreeLance Dog Training I offer convenient at-home, reality-based dog training that caters to your issues & goals Hello!

My name is Lance Kalahar and I've been lucky enough to turn my love dogs for dogs into a career! I offer convenient at-home, reality-based training that caters to you and your dog's needs and goals. Since classes are private and held at your home or a nearby park, we can focus on practical problems without sharing a trainer’s time with other students. Therefore, I can focus on training owners thor

oughly so your dog will continue to listen to you years after our training sessions because YOU have been extensively trained as well. I’ve been training dogs for 10 years and continually strive to learn more about all types of training methods so I can be a better trainer and in turn, help more dogs. I started my career as a Military Working Dog Handler in the Navy, then attended Starmark Academy for Professional Dog Trainers, and since then I have jumped between different training disciplines including pet training, explosive detection for professional sporting events, search and rescue training, rehabilitating dogs rescued from dog fighting rings, and service dog training. I believe that every dog (like humans) learns differently, so I started my own business that caters to that mentality rather than strict training protocols that other companies adhere to. I use balanced training techniques, meaning I teach new tasks in a fun manner through positive reinforcement, then, once the dog completely understands the command, I will teach appropriate consequences when your dog decides not to listen. This way, you still maintain a great relationship with your dog but he/she will listen to you the first time you ask, regardless of the scenario and without bribes likes toys and treats! Thank you for stopping by my page and please message me if you have further questions!

Big, exciting, scary, happy, sad feelings about all of this! It was time for a change and I got really lucky to find a new job with a lot of purpose that I'm ecstatic to start soon. But with that comes a lot of feelings about leaving behind a business I built over 10 years. It started off as extra money for beer and trips and became a full-time gig. I met so many wonderful dogs and dedicated owners and I'm so grateful for the trust they all put in me. Give your dogs some belly rubs and but scratches for me and don't forget to do 5 minutes of training a day with them!

Please comment a pic or memory of your dog if you want to share and maybe make me happy cry. Eternally grateful for my clients and I will carry on all the lessons your dogs have taught me onto this purposeful new mission.

Most owners stop the training process after a few indoor sessions with treats then don't understand why their dog won't listen around distractions. It's because they have barely completed the first phase of training! If you go through the teaching and training stages with your dog over about a 3 - 6 month period, then you can coast on the maintaining phase!
