Meet Patch.
Three years old, mixed breed, and until last year she was a confident suburban dog who didn't think twice about other dogs on her walks.
Then she and her mom moved to a downtown city apartment.
For Patch, everything changed at once.
More dogs. More noise. More closeness.
The street felt different in a way her body recognized before her brain could catch up — and the reactivity that came with it surprised both of them.
What we did wasn't dramatic - Confidence-building games. Focus work. Slow, repeated experiences of feeling safe near the things that used to feel like too much.
These days Patch can walk the city streets the way she walked the suburban ones — together with her mom, trusting, unbothered.
The dog didn't change.
Her environment did.
And then her skills caught up.
If you've watched your dog get reactive after a move, a new baby, or any big environment shift — you're not alone, and the path forward is real.
