Funny how pets seem to have their own routines, especially when the weather starts to shift. I’ve noticed that as the days get a little cooler, my dog gets bursts of energy in the afternoons, while the cat finds the sunniest spot in the living room and claims it for hours. Keeping them both happy and comfortable at home feels so much easier than worrying about drop-offs or new environments.

If you’re juggling work and life but want your pets to feel cared for in their own space, what’s your go-to for peace of mind? I’d love to hear how you keep your furry friends thriving when schedules get busy.

Ever notice how pets seem to settle right in when they're at home, even if their humans are out for the day? It’s something I see all the time, dogs napping in sunbeams, cats stretching out on their favorite chair. There’s a real comfort in keeping their routine and surroundings the same, especially for older pets or those who need a little extra care. If you’ve ever wondered whether in-home pet care really makes a difference, I’d love to hear your experiences. Do your pets act differently when you’re away? Let’s chat about what helps them feel their best.

I wanted to address this not just as a business owner, but as someone whom my community has entrusted with the responsibility of caring for their pets while they are busy, working, or away.
Yesterday, my clients received an unexpected and distressing phone call from me after their dog and I managed to escape a harrowing situation involving another dog in their neighborhood. This incident reminded me that, despite all my years of experience and the safety protocols I have worked hard to develop, I am not immune to the element of surprise or to circumstances created by other people’s lack of appropriate safety measures.
Going forward, I will be reevaluating all of my safety protocols and procedures.
I refuse to let this incident define who I am as a care provider. At the same time, I believe it would be negligent on my part if I did not use this experience as an opportunity to update and improve safety standards set by myself and my company. My goal is to give all of my clients, both current and future, greater peace of mind knowing that their pets will remain as safe as possible while under my care. I also want my clients to know that, should something ever go wrong despite my best efforts, I have the integrity to step forward, communicate honestly, and take responsibility for my actions and decisions.
I want to reiterate that while nobody was hurt and nobody was bitten, this was still a serious incident—one that could have been prevented through additional precautions by a number of people, myself included. I believe accountability requires acknowledging what was outside of my control while also examining what was within my control and what I can do differently going forward. Given the caliber of dogs we work with and the responsibility that comes with caring for them, incidents like this must be taken seriously. To the best of our ability, the circumstances that allowed this incident to occur will not be repeated.
Thank you for your continued trust in me and in Pawpins Petsitting LLC to care for your dogs. I do not take that trust lightly.
Over the next few months, I will be making some much-needed changes to Pawpins Petsitting LLC. Once those changes have been finalized, I will communicate them directly to my clients before making a broader announcement on social media.
Thank you again for your continued trust, and please have a wonderful and safe weekend.

Have you ever seen your pet relax the moment they realize their routine isn’t changing? I’d love to hear about your experiences with in-home pet care. What helps your pets feel comfortable when you’re not there?

Some mornings, it feels like our pets know exactly when we need a little extra comfort—or when they do. I’ve noticed how much more relaxed my dog and cat are when they get to stay at home while I’m out for the day, especially as they’ve gotten older. It’s a little thing, but seeing them happy and settled makes a big difference for me, too.
