This week is dog bite prevention week. Knowing how to greet a dog, read body language and look for warning signals are extremely essential in avoiding bites. Any dog can bite and this can be for a multitude of reasons.

-Startled (leave sleeping and eating dogs alone.)
-Feeling as if something high value will be taken (treat, toy etc.)
-Feeling like their space is invaded and disrespected
-Ignoring CLEAR signs such as growling, raised hackles, whale-eye, lip licking or moving away from you.
-Feeling threatened
-Pain Response

When greeting a dog, it’s best to stand with your hands at your sides or arms crossed and wait for them to approach you and do a sniff check.

Any dog can bite. Learn about the warning signs and how to prevent this in day to day life.

🩵These two chihuahuas!🩵

🩵Macy and Otto have both gone through our 4 week obedience program. With their paw-rents permission, we’ve been doing sessions and training walks together! These 2 are so much fun to watch and work together and so responsive to commands. Shoutout to their families for keeping up the great work☺️

🩵Great job Macy and Otto! And yes, Otto is in fact mostly chihuahua according to his DNA test 🤣
