Ferret Dreams Rescue & Adoption

10/19/2026

Thank you to everyone who attended the Ferret Dreams Rescue & Adoption and Mile High Ferret Club Halloween Costume Party, this afternoon. First Place winner was Nico who dressed as a pirate. Every pirate needs a parrot. So, Nico's ferrets were transformed into parrots, as they wore costumes made by Nico's daughter. Second Place went to Sherrie, the Safari Guide, and her ferret, Linguini, who was a snake (no creativity with that ferret costume!). Third Place went to Dr. Lucky and owner, Susie.

Thanks to the volunteers who helped Matthew set up the playpen and decorate for the party. Thank you, Tina, for being our Weasel Warden. 📸 by Sherrie.

Returning to Ferret Dreams Rescue & Adoption Adopt-A-Pet is Sam. Sam should have been named "Spiderman". Like Spiderman, Sam is an active wall and surface climber. He uses his super-ferret abilities for agility and acrobatics. Also like Spiderman, Sam has a secret identity because he originally came to Ferret Dreams as a stray.

Sam must be adopted by an owner who will enjoy a marvelous, young, active ferret! Do you have a ferret team of Avengers? Sam would be a great addition to the business! Please fill out an Adoption Application, if you are interested in adopting Sam. If you have previously adopted from FDRA, give us a call!

If you've turned every leaf but still can't find your lost ferret, Ferret Dreams Rescue & Adoption might have it. We have 2 ferrets on stray holds. One ferret was found near 6th and Sheridan and the other ferret was found near 56th and Tower Rd. Call or message us, if you are anxiously looking for your wandering ferret. You will have to provide proof that you're the ferret's owner.

Posted in today's October 2026 Ferret Dreams Rescue & Adoption and Mile High Ferret Club Newsletter:

"Dear Mile High Ferret Club Members and Guests,

After over 15 years, Lee, Matthew and the Board of Directors have made the difficult decision to end our club events. Our Halloween Costume Contest Party and Holiday Party will be our final two events.

Due to the high cost of storage for our supplies and decorations plus the rental fee for the venue, the club has been losing money for several years.

We have so many wonderful, fun memories of past themed events and watching everyone's ferrets play in the giant playpen. We enjoyed the surprise visits from the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus, the costume contests and all the raffles which raised money for the Ferret Dreams Medical Fund.

We want to thank all our event coordinators who planned the events, our volunteer photographers, our Weasel Wardens who kept your ferrets safe in the playpen and all our other volunteers who helped set up, clean up and participate in various events.

Finally, we did this solely for the ferret community here in Colorado. We wanted a space where we can gather with old and new friends and share our love for ferrets.

Thank you all for your support all these years.

With gratitude,
Matthew and Lee"

Thank you Dylan, video-journalist of Associated Press, for taking time, yesterday, to interview our volunteer, Sherrie, regarding ferrets and Ferret Dreams Rescue & Adoption. Dylan was in Colorado on a different assignment but heard about FDRA and gave us a call. Adopted ferrets, Poppy, Darbi, Cookie and Linguini, enjoyed spending the afternoon at Redstone Park. They put on quite a show for the camera (so did Sherrie, no doubt). We always appreciate the opportunity to share our passion about ferret rescue and adoption with others.

From Sherrie: "Thank you Ferret Dreams Rescue & Adoption and everyone who wished Jim and me a "Happy Birthday", yesterday. Here's a photo of me, yesterday, with our most recent adoption, Darbi.

Darbi has had a tough life, as he was abandoned to die in an empty home. Lone Tree police took Darbi to Colorado Humane. After Darbi was examined by the Intake people and their veterinarian at Colorado Humane, Ferret Dreams was contacted about taking Darbi. Once quarantine time at Colorado Humane ended, Jim and I picked up Darbi to take him to Ferret Dreams Rescue. However, Google maps seemed to redirect us and Darbi straight back to our home! 💁‍♀️

Darbi's teeth are chipped away from severe cage biting. Also, Darbi doesn't hear with his ears. He's deaf and listens with his heart. Darbi is such a happy ferret. We are so thankful for the work of Ferret Dreams Rescue and Adoption. They've made it possible for Darbi to enjoy his life, now!!"
