We are incredibly saddened to see what is happening with the fires in California and pray these fires let up soon! đ We wanted to give you some tips on what to do when you are evacuated:
1. âPictures and Passportsâ. But really that encompasses all important docs. đ
2. Empty the safe of valuables - especially sentimental ones. Even if the safe claims to be fireproof.
3. Pet food, pet bowl, pet cbd if you have it. Pets are pretty agitated and scared for days (especially if you canât return to the home), so consistency for them with food bowls helps. đž
4. A water bottle for yourself (you can refill it anywhere) and high protein snacks!
5. Clothes for 3 days, 1 week of underwear, basic toiletries, two professional work outfits and basic makeup. You might be back at work before you can figure out if any clothes can be salvaged. đ
6. All your medicine (prescription and OTC/supplements) that are taken daily. If you do leave a prescription medicine behind, your insurance does usually cover 1-2 âlost bottlesâ a year, so even if itâs not up for a refill, you can get your prescription refilled for your normal copay. Make sure to call and tell the pharmacist that the meds were left behind, so they can apply the âlost bottleâ waiver to that refill. đ
7. Take pictures of each room before you leave. Try to grab closer up pics of closets, cabinets and shelving. Youâll have to make a contents list for insurance later and these pictures will make the process much easier. Take pictures of your cars - inside with mileage showing and outside đ¸
Above all else, care of yourself and your loved ones. The process of rebuilding takes months and youâve got to view this as marathon. Youâre safe - and thatâs the most important thing of all! âĽď¸
