Nala has her basics down mostly, but she had no idea what a "down" meant. Reverse engineered and I started marking her down if she would do one on her own. We started with "place" and voila 7 days in we have a start for a down. Now to put the reps in. I don't like to use leash pressure too much to teach Nala as she's very sensitive. We will get there slower.

Nala started arrived last night for her 4 week board and train program. We're going to work on neutral mode, off and on leash obidience, and some reactivity.

She is the sweetest dog and very sensitive. This will be a fun 4 weeks

All our board and train programs are run from our home. Your dog will live with me while we do the training.,No big facility or trainers who you haven't met. We believe real dog training happens in the real world.

There's something profound about what the Netherlands has accomplished—they've created a society where every dog has a home, where abandonment isn't just frowned upon, it's illegal. It took decades of commitment, strong animal welfare laws with real consequences, and a cultural shift that put pet responsibility front and center.

Think about that for a moment. Mandatory pet registration, spay and neuter programs, hefty fines for abandonment, and genuine consequences for abuse. But beyond the policies, there's something deeper happening—a collective understanding that animals deserve protection and care.

This isn't just about statistics or being the "first country" to achieve something. It's about what becomes possible when a society decides that animals matter enough to protect them. Every stray dog off the streets represents a life saved, a second chance given. The Netherlands showed us what's possible when we commit to doing better.
