A little peek inside my brain during a day training session πŸ§ πŸ•

We took this pup to the dog park to run, play, sniff, decompress, and then layered some training into the environment. I kept her on a 10ft line and worked recall + check-ins

Call her name β†’ she looks at me β†’ she comes toward me β†’ reward β†’ release back to being a dog.

I annotated this video so you can see what I’m thinking versus what I’m actually saying and doing (even the moment where I made a mistake) Because good training isn’t about being a perfect robot with a perfect plan sometimes It’s just about being able to read the dog in front of you and make the next choice make sense.

And this is one of the biggest things I want people to understand about training is that you do N O T need to spend hours drilling your dog.

A simple, predictable feedback loop repeated consistently can be incredibly powerful.

πŸ§πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ I call your name.
πŸ‘€ You check in with me.
πŸ«±πŸΎβ€πŸ«²πŸ½ You come connect.
πŸ— I reward you.
πŸ• You get released to go be a dog again.

When the criteria are clear, the reward actually matters, the handler is regulated and fair, and the dog gets enough repetition to understand the game that s**t adds up lol

Training doesn’t have to feel like a military exercise.

TLDR; focus on creating a tiny moment of communication, reinforcing it, and then letting your dog go sniff some grass.

Simple β‰  ineffective.
Repetitive β‰  boring.
And training β‰  hours of drills.

The goal is to build communication that holds up in the real world.
