💙 A Special Update About Dr. Traxler 💙

It is definitely bittersweet for us to share that Dr. Kari Traxler will officially be transitioning to our Hickory Tree Veterinary Hospital location.

While we are incredibly sad that we will no longer get to have Dr. Traxler with us here at Denton, we are also so happy for her to have the opportunity to work closer to home. Most importantly, Dr. Traxler is not leaving our organization, she is simply moving to another one of our locations! ❤️

We are so thankful for everything Dr. Traxler has brought to Denton Animal Hospital. Her knowledge, compassion, dedication to her patients, and willingness to continue learning and expanding the care she can offer have made such an impact on our team and our clients. She will certainly be missed around here!

For our clients who would like to continue seeing Dr. Traxler, especially those interested in continuing care with her for herbal and integrative medicine, we are more than happy to help send your pet's records to our Hickory Tree location so you can continue your care with her there.

Although we don't love saying goodbye to having her at Denton, we are very thankful that this really isn't goodbye. 💙 Dr. Traxler is still part of our veterinary family, just at a different location!

Dr. Traxler, thank you for everything you have given to Denton Animal Hospital, our patients, our clients, and our team. We are going to miss seeing you, but we are so excited for you and this next chapter at Hickory Tree! 🐾❤️

🐾Itchy skin can have many different causes - and figuring out the reason behind your pet’s discomfort is the first step toward helping them feel better.
From allergies and parasites to skin infections and environmental triggers, there are several things that can leave your pet scratching, licking, or chewing.

🚨 When Is It Time to See the Vet?
An occasional scratch is normal—but if your pet can't seem to stop itching, it may be time for an exam.
Watch for these signs:
🐾 Constant scratching, licking, or chewing
❤️ Red, irritated, or inflamed skin
🩹 Hair loss or bald patches
👂 Frequent ear scratching or head shaking
🦠 Odor, scabs, or skin sores
😔 Restlessness or changes in behavior due to discomfort
Persistent itching is often a sign of an underlying issue, such as allergies, parasites, or a skin or ear infection. The sooner the cause is identified, the sooner your pet can get the relief they deserve.
If your pet's itch is becoming too much to ignore, give us a call to schedule an appointment. Together, we'll help get them back to feeling comfortable!

What an incredible month it has been!

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who donated, participated, and helped make our Ruff Love Rescue Fundraiser such a success. Your generosity, compassion, and support truly showed up and showed out for pets in need. ❤️🐾

Because of this amazing community, we were able to donate both monetary contributions and much needed supplies - including beds, blankets, toys, harnesses, and more to help Ruff Love Rescue continue their incredible work.

Throughout August, we'll be sharing tips on recognizing the signs of itchy skin, common causes, treatment options, and ways you can help keep your pet comfortable all year long. Healthy skin means a happier pet - and we're here to help every step of the way.

🏡 Bringing home a newly adopted pet is exciting - but it can also be overwhelming for them.

Everything is new: the sights, sounds, smells, and people. The best gift you can give your new companion is patience.

Here are a few ways to help your new family member settle in:
🐾 Give them time to adjust at their own pace.
🛏️ Create a quiet, safe space they can call their own.
📅 Keep a consistent routine for meals, potty breaks, and bedtime.
❤️ Build trust with positive reinforcement and gentle interactions.
🩺 Schedule a wellness visit to establish care and make sure they're off to a healthy start.

Every pet's journey is different, and adjusting to a new home takes time. With patience, consistency, and plenty of love, you'll help your new companion feel safe, secure, and truly at home.
