UPDATE: MAX FOUND HIS FOREVER HOME ❤️
This handsome fella is Max, and he needs a new family.

Last month, Max was given up to the Fort Worth Animal shelter for not eating, and nearly a week later a shelter volunteer drove him to us so that we could take him in and save his life. One more day waiting for surgery and he probably wouldn't have survived.

Max had eaten part of a stuffie and it had been trapped in his intestines for a whole week. By the time we got him to surgery his intestines were very angry and we had to remove a small portion to save his life.

Two weeks later and he is a happy sassy friend. He loves to play fetch and he often spends afternoons in the front office "helping" the receptionists.

He is young, probably only a year or two old, heartworm negative, fully vaccinated, and around 20 lbs. He has almost human eyes and likes to stare into your soul 🙃

He is scared of kids and would prefer a home with teenager and older human friends. We are not sure how he feels about other critters just yet.

UPDATE:
Dottie is going on a weekend visit with a likely adopter. ❤️

This is Dottie, and she needs a home of her own.

She's a little bitty 10 lb girly but she photographs larger so we attempted to use a banana for scale like everyone else on the internet. Dottie's never heard of the internet and she thinks this is very suspicious.

Dottie came to the clinic scared, shut down, and painful after being taken to the shelter by her previous owner for having "too many dogs" and having an injury for an unknown amount of time.

YOU GUYS. This poor sweet baby had the top of her leg bone shoved into a fracture of her pelvis. We were able to save her leg but she will likely always have a bit of a limp.

Dottie is now sweet and sassy and has done well with all the pets we have put her with. She is great with my calm 8 year old daughter but had zero interest in meeting my toddler (she walked away, we didn't push it.)

If she had her way she would be sitting in someone's lap every spare second that she wasn't zooming around their yard. She's a very clear communicator and knows what she wants.

She's still healing from her surgery so it will be a couple months yet before she is fully using the leg, but she's over this whole thing where her servants (everyone in the clinic) can't hold her at all times (we're trying to work here!)

Dottie appears to be between 3-5 years old. She's HW negative, spayed, and fully vaccinated.

Loves: Exploring the yard with her human friends, sitting on laps, playing with stuffies.

Dislikes: Being stuck in a kennel while not being touched by her humans. Bananas.

July schedule changes:

This is Dr. Epstein. As some of you know, my mom has been living with me on hospice for almost the last five months.

I'm so grateful for this time with her. I'm also exhausted, and despite lots of help it turns out that one human can't be fully present in so many places at once.

For most of July I will be stepping away to attend to my mom and play catch up with important stuff like sleep and handling everything while we navigate this transition. I want to be present for my clients and patients - that means taking some time to be present with myself.

Dr. Wood will be seeing all appointments. We will be limiting appointments to active clients only (but new pets in an active client are still ok). I will be in a couple days for surgery and appts, but otherwise not available.

WE WILL BE CLOSED THE LAST THREE WEDNESDAYS OF THE MONTH. Please plan accordingly for medication pick ups.

I love so much that I get to be a part of caring for your pets. Thank you for understanding my need for this time to tend to the other parts of my world.

This little 7 lb cutie is Jewel, or Julie as we've been calling her. She's about a year or two old and is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and heartworm negative.

She was found by Fort Worth Animal control who discovered that she had a hip injury requiring surgery. So we pulled her from the shelter to provide her with surgery and help her find a home.

Jewels is still favoring her leg a little bit, but she is healed up enough that she is ready to find a family.

She is easy going, good with my two and eight year old daughters, ignores my cats, likes my dogs. She doesn't have any accidents if left in the kennel or my small bathroom but she is still learning potty training and needs frequent reminders to go p*e outside if she is loose in the house.

She is a lover and can be licky. She can be a bit nervous with new folks at first but quickly warms up and loves to be held and cuddle. She does like to stay VERY close underfoot so I would not recommend her to anyone who has balance issues or could easily trip on her. (It's hard to even get a photo of her because she stays so close!)

She will likely put on a little weight once she is all healed up but she will still be under ten pounds.

There is an adoption fee.

Dr Epstein and her husband have been shoveling for hours and we have cleared two parking spots 😂

We had about 4 inches of ice for our own personal ice rink.

We expect to be open tomorrow (Thursday). Main roads are clear but parking lots (like ours) and side streets are still pretty slushy.

Meet our foster, Fitz!

Fitz is currently staying with Dr. Epstein and her family and getting some basic training under his belt while he awaits his forever home.

He is a perfectly petite 34 lbs, but he will probably add a few pounds now that he's living the good life. Everyone who meets him in person is shocked by how small he is in real life.

Strengths:

❤️ Loves meeting new people

❤️ Loves the dog park (though Doc is real picky about which dogs we go in and play with)

❤️ Knows how to potty on leash, perhaps a previous life as an apartment dog?

❤️ SO SOFT

❤️ Agile, curious, and ready for adventure! Not shy about new humans or noises, will climb on all the slides and parts of the playground if allowed.

❤️ Loves walks or runs

❤️ Mostly just wants to lay by your feet while at home

❤️ Appears housetrained

❤️ Would be great fun for trick training, scent work, agility, or other dog sports that don't require a lot of ball drive.

He is still a young guy, so he still needs direction and consistent training, but he is chill in the house and is learning how to relax on his mat during meals. He has learned sit, down and place so far and is working on some silly tricks as well.

He lives for the chase and would love to keep your yard squirrel free 😂

He does not seem to have any desire to hurt cats, but he is VERY excited to see and CHASE them, so for his reason he is not recommended for a household with cats.

He is great with Dr. E's toddler and school age kiddo, but he is still young and goobery. If they get too exciting he does get mouthy. He is learning that we only play with toys and not arms. While he's great with dog savvy kids in a well supervised environment, he is still a teenage do**us.

Fitz is about a year old. Neutered, HW negative, and up to date on vaccines/microchipped.

We aren't sure yet what breeds he is, but we eagerly await his Embark DNA results and we're happy to hear your guesses!

Issues with raw diets and H5N1 influenza risk in cats (and dogs) have gotten a lot of attention in the last week or two. Like most emerging disease
