Good Afternoon Everyone! Its about time I introduced myself.
My name is Alexis Krahn, Im 20 years old from small town Denmark WI. I work part time on a dairy farm, with the hopes of farrier work becoming my full time job!
I grew up on a dairy farm, my dad always said he would "never have a hay-burner" Well, with 2 daughters its hard to say no😅
Ive owned horses since I was 8, with my first pony being a yearling quarter pony. Yes, green on green isn't recommended but we made it through with no broken bones so id say its a win.
I started hoof work when I was 13. I couldn't find a farrier that would come out for 3 trims.. So I learned from a friend that did his own horses. I trimmed my own for about 6 years, Eventually I bought a donkey with nasty founder, and that was my tipping point to commit to Oklahoma State Horseshoeing School. While there, I met people from all over the continent, 5 people even being from Canada! I will forever miss my Oklahoma family and hope to see them again in the future🩵
I graduated in December 2025, one of the top in my class, and started gaining clients soon after.
Even after OSHS I'm continuing my education though online classes, learning more about anatomy, diet, and diseases and how ALL of it has something to do with the hoof. I also occasionally work with other farriers for more hands on experience.
