06/02/2026: New stray in the Animal Shelter. If you recognize your dog, contact DAWG to claim, 3307 S Eisenhower Pkwy, 903-361-4211. Be sure you take proof of ownership and proof of current rabies vaccination. The City of Denison requires strays to be held for 3 full days (6 days if chipped to owner or wearing owner-identifiable tag) . Unclaimed dogs in the shelter MAY be offered for adoption through DAWG. There is NO GUARANTEE that any particular dog will be offered for adoption. If you do NOT intend to reclaim your dog and can provide information about the dog’s temperament and behavior, please message DAWG with that information. The more information we have, the better our chances of making a good placement if/when the dog is released for adoption. No applications or inquiries are being accepted at this time.

For those of you who want to know about Princess, here is an update. On Saturday, 5/23, our DAWG staff noticed she was not herself and quickly got her into the Emergency Clinic where she tested POS for canine parvovirus, received the antibody as well as many other medications while spending the rest of that weekend in the care of the professionals at the clinic. As you can imagine, we incurred a hefty invoice.

The good news is she is recovering, and when she is healthy enough to get spayed, the plan is to open a short adoption application window whereby those interested can submit applications via our website's adoption page. Once that window closes, all submitted applications will be reviewed. We will make an announcement when the window opens.

Please note: Anyone submitting an application that has other dogs will need to be able to ensure their dogs are UTD on parvo vaccinations.
