It was a good day! Mega thanks to the DHS football crew for all their help in the morning getting the turf area cleaned up, along with some other odds and ends. We made quick work of the soil grading thanks to them. Then thanks to another volunteer who took time out of his work day to rake in top soil and spread seed and straw. Just wow! Today some amazing volunteers fully installed our donated turf from Midwest Field Turf, with assistance once again from Denison Public Works. THANK YOU!!!

On Tuesday a group of volunteers from the DHS football program will be helping with some other finishing touches. Come join us at 8am Tuesday and bring shovels and rakes if you’d like to help. Our fountains should be done in about a week as well. It’s coming together!

We’re planning landscaping for the fall and then hosting a Grand Opening event.

The past 2 days the City of Denison Public Works Dept put a lot of work into building the entrance of the park to have a suitable base for installation of the donated artificial turf. We want to send a big “thank you!” for all their hard work.

We are now coordinating a large number of volunteers to install the turf soon. This will create a beautiful new entrance to the park as was originally designed. The turf entrance will hopefully help avoid creating a mud pit in the future, something we witnessed at other parks while designing this one. We need a few schedules to align to get this done so we appreciate your patience.

Stay tuned if you would like to contribute your time to help complete this stage of the project. Once the turf is installed, we’re trying to have our fencing contractor properly adjust the entry to the new turf.

The three water fountains have been ordered, with two of them donated generously by Bohlmann Inc. These can be installed once the turf is complete.

The Dog Park will be closed from 1pm today until further notice. Denison Public Works will be doing work to help prepare the entrance for artificial turf.

Reminder: please stay with your dog at the park. I know it is cold, but it is not OK to let your dog into the park unattended while you look at your phone in your car. This is how messes get left behind for others to deal with. Thank you kindly and enjoy the park - improvements coming this spring!

Hi everyone, we've received a complaint of multiple occasions of waste left in the park, after months of excellent rule-following visitors. Please don't ruin the fun for everyone!

Here are some things you can do to help:

· Stay with your dog! This is clearly spelled out in the rules. If you come to the park and watch your phone instead of your dog, you can miss potty breaks.

· Help spread the word to other park users. If you see someone leaving waste, you can kindly remind them of the rules or offer them a bag. We all get distracted occasionally. If someone is still abusing the park rules, consider taking down some identifying info and submitting the info to Denison Parks & Rec.

· Be a good neighbor. If you find waste in the park, pick it up, even if it's not from your dog. This helps keep the park clean and discourages more waste left behind. Again, sometimes we all get distracted and miss seeing dog potty breaks. Let's all help each other out — this is our park!

We are excited the park is getting more use, and with that comes more new visitors who need to learn the rules. The park has been open for months without us having to address this. Let's get back on track to a spotless park!

Reisz Construction has begun installing the edging for the artificial turf. The park will only get better from here. It remains open and can be a great place for building community while maintaining distance between visitors. In efforts of good hygiene, we’ve removed the community tennis balls for now. We’re looking forward to sunny days where we can be carefree in the park!
