Hello, π Royal Playhouse where everyone is royalty! On Saturday June 6th, our Royal Blessings π crew turned 3wks! Yay! Happy day babies! π₯³πΎπππ π πͺ
They are getting π by the the day. Pups are literally melting me.
At 3 weeks old, Schnoodle πΆ transition from helpless newborns to active, toddling explorers. Their eyes and ears fully open, they begin tottering around as their hind legs gain strength, and they start cutting their first baby teeth. Personalities and voices begin to emerge as they learn early social cues.
Fun Coat Facts:
At 3 weeks old, your puppies are in a very exciting stage, but their coats are still in the absolute infancy of development.
β¨οΈWhat to Expect for Their Wavy Coats?
Since all four puppies have slightly wavy coats, they have inherited a balanced mix of the Poodle and Schnauzer coat types.
β¨οΈ The Coat Type:
A wavy coat (often called a fleece coat) is typically the easiest to manage. It is less prone to the tight matting of tight Poodle curls, but it sheds less than a straight Schnauzer coat.
β¨οΈThe Color Outlook for our white and π« pup.
Genetically known as a parti π«color Schnoodle (a white base coat with patches of a secondary color).
β¨οΈThe White Base:
The white parts of the coat will remain white and will not fade or change color as the puppy grows.
β¨οΈThe Chocolate Spots:
The π« patches on the head and body carry the exact same fading genes as our solid π« πΆ πΎ. Over the next year, those dark patches will likely lighten up into a softer mocha, silver beige, or cafΓ© au lait shade, creating a beautiful contrast against the white.
For the π« pup's.
π«Schnoodles Pup's frequently experience significant color transformations as their adult coats grow in. The "clearing" process often replaces dark puppy fur with lighter tones like silver, gray, beige, or cafΓ© au lait.
β¨οΈThe Poodle Fading Gene: Poodles carry a common, naturally occurring fading or dilution gene. When a puppy inherits this gene, their dark birth color will gradually lighten often taking up to 1 to 2 years to fully manifest into their adult coat.
β¨οΈThe Miniature Schnauzer Influence: They frequently go through distinct color transitions as they grow. Many that start out completely solid dark colors gradually develop lighter tones (like the classic "salt and pepper" look) or lighter markings.
Happening now:
β¨οΈ Brown and Gray Markings on Paws. The appearance of gray & brown is starting to come through. It is common as the puppy coat will be shed. The hair near the paws, legs, is starting to transition first, as new adult guard hairs emerge.
Our Next Steps for our 3wk old Puppies,
Since they are only 3 weeks old, they are too young for real grooming, except for nail trim, this is the perfect πͺ to prepare them for a lifetime of grooming:
β¨οΈTactile Desensitization: We gently touch, hold, and massage their paws, ears, and tails every day. This desensitizes them so they won't be fearful of nail clippers or grooming shears later.
β¨οΈIntroduction of Soft Brush: We will run a very soft bristle brush over their coats for just a few seconds a day to get them used to the sensation of being brushed. Now show our Royal Blessings Crew some β€οΈ and give them a πΎ. Stay tuned for our litter their video and 2wk πΈ shoot pics for the birth certificates
