⚡️Rizzo E-collar intro pt. 2⚡️

Rizzo kind of struggled in this one, so you can see how I help her just enough, but didn’t do it for her. I think it’s crucial to develop problem solving skills in a dog by letting them figure things out and guiding them as much as necessary, but as little as possible. A dangle of the collar or a glance is the help here. They don’t all go super smoothly, but that’s how I trouble shoot

Stitch 💥⚡️

Stitch is a KNPV bred Dutch shepherd. She’s got all the drive you would ever want from a dog. Such a sweet soul at the same time.

She is with me for a 5 week program to get her off leash trained!

We are also setting a foundation for some good bite work. We don’t plan to compete with this dog or anything, rather just make sure she’s fulfilled and doing what she was bred to do, which is to use her teeth and nose lol.

Such a fun explosive dog, I can’t wait to see where she’ll be at the end of the program!

⚡️E-collar intro pt. 1⚡️

Rizzo getting introduced to the E-collar!

She’s super smart, plus super food motivated so this was quick and easy for her

I like to make the room boring, and the E-collar super interesting with all dogs.

For a couple nights, their food comes from that E-collar, it becomes valuable very quickly, not only are you building value to the collar, but you are also preparing them for the day you go to put that on their necks, so they don’t think it’s a noose that’s gonna take their head off, rather they think it’s gonna produce something good for them.

I love to flip the script on the dogs.

Don’t EVER just put the collar on and start pushing buttons. You will ruin it so fast. Reach out to a qualified trainer!

⚡️E-collar intro pt. 3⚡️

This is the step where I “charge” the stim of the E-collar, and turn it into a gas pedal.

What does “charging” the stim mean?

It simply means adding a ton of value to it and associating it with the best chemicals and endorphins the brain produces.

Making the E-collar, a dopamine boost, I want it to mean go go go. Link it to good feelings.

What this does for us, is it prepares the dog for higher levels of pressure and the dog won’t shut down if it feels those higher levels of pressure.

It flips the script on the dog and makes them WANT you to press that button so they can get paid, reverse psychology to the fullest.

Preparing the dog for the future is what it’s all about! Don’t ever just put the collar on the dog and press buttons and hope for the best. Teach the dog what it means, and what to do with it

⚡️E-collar into pt 4. Ollie⚡️

In this video here im explaining how I go about finding the dogs “working level” what is a “working level”? A working level is simply the lowest level the dog can feel or perceive the E-collar.

I need to know this to continue onto my next step in the conditioning process. Which is ‘charging up the stim’ which just means I’m gonna make him love the feeling of the stim itself.

The reason for this is to prepare the dog for what the E-collar feels like. He’s never felt it before and if you just go around correcting things without preparing the dog for it, that’s how you shut them down.

I prepare the dogs for pressure so they know what to do when life throws it at them. Preparation is all about building accurate predictions for the dog.

One day I’m going to correct Ollie w the collar, it’s inevitable, I’m simply preparing him and showing him what to do with that pressure

⚡️accountability⚡️

Do you hold your dog accountable?

Probably not lol. And that’s EXACTLY why their obedience is 💩

Too often we give dogs a “choice”. You ask Fido for a “sit” and Fido says “no thank you I don’t feel like it” and you just let them walk away, or your trying to show your friend your dogs new “trick” and it doesn’t work and you get embarrassed and just say “fine then, you don’t have to”

Holding your dogs accountable doesn’t mean being an ass to them. It means, showing up, practicing, and not letting them blow you off when you ask something of them.

Dogs are the biggest scam artists out there, they’re opportunists who are ALWAYS looking to find their advantage, sometimes for them, that’s walking away when you ask them to do something, they know they don’t have to and they’d rather just walk away. That makes their situation better.

I flip the script and make it to where doing the obedience, is their advantage. They can manipulate me by doing obedience.

Hold your dogs accountable! Theyre absolutely smart enough to know the difference of when you are and aren’t. They’re ALWAYS keeping score

Don’t let them win!

⚡️desensitizing touch to paws⚡️

In this session here we worked on getting Rizzo used to her paws being touched.

She HATES it lol. She thinks your going to rip her paws off

Watch how in a few minutes we go from her not letting me even touch them, to full on holding them

I ALWAYS take things like this, at the dogs pace. If I forced her to let me, do you think she would have a good time? Probably not, in fact, it would probably confirm every suspicion she has, and we would never get anywhere. She would always be scared to let me grab them.

She would literally cower to the ground and p*e all over herself if you touched her paws when she first came to me. We are working on getting her to a point to where we can maintain her nails with a dremel, no problem. This is where we start.

Should I make a series on me getting her to let me dremel them? You guys let me know!

⚡️E-collar intro pt. 2⚡️

First we built some interest to the collar, then we move on to getting the collar on him and painting that picture of what it’s gonna look like when I put it on him in the future.

I do this to make the dog love the gear, putting it on, and everything inbetween. No bobbing and weaving, no chasing him down to get it on, this allows us to have good associations with the collar rather than bad ones.

This is all a preparation for the future. You may call it extra, I call it building trust, clarity, and confidence in what’s going to happen when I go to put this around his neck

⚡️ending the bribe pt. 2⚡️

In this video here, we’re showing you how to take the next step in ending the bribery with your dog.

We’re adding in leash pressure to his positions to not only create clarity, but to show him my concept of “you must”

Adding in leash pressure to your commands will create reliability. Finger tip pressure, but consistent.

The magic here is the timing. As soon as behavior is complete, the leash pressure MUST go away.

One other thing also is that if we’re going to be MAKING the dog do obedience, I’ll be fair about when and how long I need it for. I won’t just ask for them cause I like to see him do it lol. I’ll ask it when I need it or when we’re working on building it up.

Take it slow, and be consistent!
