If you are able to help, please do! Getting these dogs out of the shelter and into foster care is always important, right now even more!

On Friday, we shared about this stray pup, Cliff, who arrived at our shelter with parvovirus. Since then, two presumed siblings have also tested positive — and we need your help.

To protect the rest of our pets from illness, we are implementing changes to the shelter this week. All new intakes and on-site adoption showings will be postponed until Tuesday, January 16. We are working to move all of our healthy, adoptable pets into foster homes, so if you're looking to adopt this week, you can still adopt a pet from foster care! Browse adoptable pets at rhhumanesociety.org/adopt. All other walk-in services, like our Pet Pantry and other Animal Resource Center programs, will be unchanged.

Here's what we are asking of our supportive community:

✨ We still need foster homes for three dogs and ten cats. Those needing foster care are healthy, adoptable pets that have not been exposed to the pups with parvo and simply need a safe place to crash for a couple of weeks and hopefully get adopted! We provide all necessary supplies and vet care, so fostering is at no cost to you. Learn more and get started at rhhumanesociety.org/foster.

✨ Providing lifesaving treatment for even just one dog with parvovirus can cost thousands of dollars. If you're able, please donate toward our trio's care at rhhumanesociety.org/donate. We are also in need of donations of Personal Protective Equipment, like disposable gloves, gowns, and shoe covers if you or your company have any to spare!

Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year from the Montrose Farmers Market! We are so grateful to serve such a wonderful community and work with the best vendors on the Western Slope! We're looking forward to another great year in 2024!

Our first market of 2024 will be next Saturday on January 6th from 10 am to 1 pm. There will be no market this weekend. Have a happy and safe new year's celebration this weekend!

The 2023 Pupcake Project was a success! A huge thank you to the Wags and Menace Make a Difference Program Foundation for sponsoring the Pupcake Project this year!

We were able to deliver over 150 all natural Pumpkin Spice Pupcakes and gift bags filled with enrichment items to three local shelters this Christmas! There are so many dogs waiting for their forever homes at your local shelters, so please keep them in mind when you are looking for a new friend!
