🎃🐾 India Takes on the Halloween Spooks! 👻🐕‍🦺

India headed over to Lowe’s for some confidence-building training around all the strange, spooky, moving, and noisy Halloween decorations!

As a service dog, India needs to be able to navigate a world that is constantly changing. One day it’s a quiet shopping trip, and the next there are giant skeletons, moving monsters, flashing lights, and decorations making all kinds of unexpected noises!

This is exactly why environmental exposure and confidence building are such important parts of raising a reliable service dog.

We aren’t just teaching India to ignore Halloween decorations. We’re teaching him how to process unfamiliar situations, think through what he’s experiencing, and remain confident and engaged with his handler.

And just because a dog has successfully navigated something before doesn’t mean we stop practicing! Confidence is something we continue to develop and strengthen throughout their training.

Our goal isn’t to create a dog who has seen everything. It’s to create a dog who has the confidence to handle things he’s never seen before! ❤️

Every new experience is another opportunity to build the foundation for a confident, adaptable, and dependable adult service dog.

Because at the end of the day, a service dog needs to be more than task-trained. He needs to be emotionally prepared for the world around him! 🐾

🎃🐾 Building Confidence, One Weird Halloween Decoration at a Time!

We headed over to Lowe’s to work on confidence building around all the spooky, moving, noisy, and downright WEIRD Halloween decorations! 👻💀

Even though he’s been working on environmental confidence and exposure for the past year, we aren’t stopping now!

One of the biggest misconceptions about raising a service dog is that once they’ve been exposed to something, they’re good to go. But confidence isn’t built through one experience. It’s built through hundreds of positive, successful experiences in different environments.

Halloween decorations are actually fantastic training opportunities! Things that move unexpectedly, make strange noises, have unusual shapes, or suddenly pop out challenge a dog’s ability to process unfamiliar situations.

Our goal isn’t just a dog who can tolerate these things. We want a dog who can encounter something completely bizarre, assess it, and confidently move on without losing focus on their handler.

Because we’re not just training a puppy for today. We’re building the foundation for a confident, environmentally sound, reliable adult service dog who can navigate whatever life throws his way! 🐕‍🦺❤️

Exposure doesn’t end when they’re comfortable. We keep building on that confidence!
