Please take extra extra precautions during this heat cycle for your furr babies 🥵

Crisis K9 Luna wants to remind all of us that extreme heat isn’t just uncomfortable – it can be dangerous for our four-legged friends. Here are some tips to keep your furry friend nice and cool while having fun this summer.

1. Make sure your dog has easy access to plenty of shade and water — If you're outside, stop and take breaks in the shade to give your dog a chance to cool down. Bring a bowl, and refill often, so your pup stays nice and hydrated.
2. Check the pavement before you go on a walk — If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your dog. Consider moving your walk to the morning, when the pavement will be cooler, to avoid burning your dog's paw pads.
3. Know the symptoms of overheating in pets — Symptoms include excessive panting/difficulty breathing, increased heart and respiratory rate, drooling, and mild weakness.
4. NEVER leave your dog in a parked, hot car — Not only can it get you in trouble with the law, but a dog can suffer a fatal heatstroke in as little as 15 minutes.
