‼️We need your help. With excessive heat expected this upcoming week, our humane agents and shelter operations team will be especially busy, and even basic daily animal care may become more challenging.

No matter the weather—heat, cold, or rain—our team remains committed to supporting our community and the animals who need us.

As we address facility-related challenges, we’re counting on our community to support us in return. Right now, HSDC has several immediate needs, including a commercial clothes dryer to keep up with our constant laundry demands, sun sails to provide much-needed shade and heat protection for the animals in our care while outside, and support for our annex project, which will help us create the space needed to better serve animals, staff, volunteers and the public.

We are also working hard to build a more sustainable organization. That means investing in the people who care for the animals every single day by improving staff retention, strengthening benefits and ensuring our team has the tools and support they need to do this difficult work well. These investments are not extras. They are essential to providing safe, consistent, high-quality care for the animals who depend on us.

Since 2019, the Humane Society of Delaware County has served nearly 12,000 animals. We have also responded to several major animal cruelty cases, while demand for affordable pet wellness care continues to grow.

Belle would like to file a formal complaint.

Despite being:
✨ melon-shaped
✨ incredibly cute
✨ full of personality
✨ obsessed with people
✨ a connoisseur of soft beds, boxes, toys, and snacks

…she is STILL somehow waiting for a home. Frankly, she finds this unacceptable.

Belle is 6 years old, beautiful, and built like the world’s most perfect little cantaloupe. She loves attention, loves her people, and would happily spend her days being admired, pampered, and making biscuits in a sunny spot. She does eat a special urinary diet to help keep her bladder healthy, but otherwise her requirements are simple: love me, feed me, tell me I’m pretty.

Belle would prefer a home without small children who don’t understand the importance of respecting a queen’s personal space, but if you’re looking for a cat with charm, sass, sweetness, and a face you’ll want to kiss 47 times a day… Belle is your girl.

She’s one of our longest stay cats, and we would really love to see her finally get the happily ever after she deserves. Come meet Belle and prepare to fall in love.

Yesterday the Humane Society of Delaware County was invited to the new 7Brew in Delaware for their ribbon-cutting ceremony put on by The Delaware Area Chamber of Commerce. There was such a great turn out to welcome the new business to town, and 7 Brew’s director of operations Derek Stevens said it was one of the best ribbon-cutting ceremonies the business has ever had.

One of the things that 7Brew is all about is “As a brand, we’re all about cultivating kindness, being fast, having lots of options for our customers — that’s who we are”.
“We want to be like the local coffee house that’s well supported.” and that showed with the amazing turnout yesterday.

7Brew is all about giving back to their community and as part of that kindness they are donating $2000 to The Humane Society of Delaware County. THANK YOU!

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helps make a difference for the animals at Humane Society of Delaware County.

From First Friday raising $300 in donations, to DHL’s annual Dog Days event bringing in $401 plus an additional $50 donation from Arctic Surfer, whose shaved ice was a welcome treat on a hot afternoon, your generosity continues to amaze us. Several employees also submitted applications to adopt. 🥳

Thank you to Barley Hopsters, Fat Head’s Brewery, and all of the bars and restaurants that participated in the first-ever Bar Crawl, which raised an amazing $921 for the animals. We’re excited to hear Barley Hopsters hopes to make this a yearly tradition!

A special thank you to Girl Scout Troop 6153 for creating no-sew adoption blankets for our animals and taking the time to learn more about HSDC and responsible animal care. They enjoyed having some playtime with the cats, but then again who wouldn’t. 😻

Every donation, every volunteer hour, and every act of kindness helps us provide care, comfort, and second chances to animals in need. We truly couldn’t do this work without the support of our incredible community. From all of us at HSDC—and the animals whose lives you touch—thank you! ❤️🐾

Pumpkin is begging you to give FIV+ cats a chance!

Just look at those paws! Pumpkin has a very important request: don't let three little letters stand between amazing cats and loving homes.

FIV (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus) sounds scary, but many FIV+ cats live long, happy, healthy lives with little to no special care. They play, cuddle, zoom around the house, and love their families just like any other cat.

Unfortunately, cats like Pumpkin are often overlooked simply because of their diagnosis. Meanwhile, they're busy making biscuits, asking for pets, and apparently offering their best prayers for a forever home. 😸

If you've ever considered adopting a cat, please keep an open heart and mind when it comes to FIV+ felines. They have so much love to give and deserve the same chance at happiness as any other cat.
