🐾 Meet Brie, and a little reminder of why rescue matters.
Sweet Brie is just 16 weeks old, and one adventurous puppy moment landed her in our orthopedic department.
Brie came to us through Hickory Hounds Haven after leaping from a front porch and fracturing the left lateral condyle of her elbow. Injuries like this are especially concerning in a growing puppy, but thankfully, Brie had some encouraging findings during her orthopedic evaluation.
Her fracture is minimally displaced, meaning the pieces of bone have remained in good alignment. Because of this, Brie is a good candidate for conservative management with splinting rather than surgery. 🩷
Her treatment plan includes splinting, strict activity restrictions, and approximately 8–12 weeks of healing.
Now, keeping a 16-week-old Frenchie from acting like a 16-week-old Frenchie for that long? Brie’s foster family may have the hardest job of all. 😂🐶
Cases like Brie are also a great example of what rescue really takes. It’s more than finding a dog a home. It takes rescue organizations, foster families, veterinary teams, technicians, specialists, and supporters all working together when a dog needs more than the basics.
Hickory Hounds Haven, Brie’s foster family, and our orthopedic team are all working toward the same goal: giving this little girl the best possible chance at a healthy future.
Brie has a few long weeks of healing ahead, but she has a whole group of people invested in seeing her get better. 🐾💕
