Monday Pickles update- we had our appointment today with our primary vet this morning. We discussed some new findings like muscle wasting at his temples and his neck lymph nodes are now enlarged. Fine needle aspirates were taken from the lymph nodes and are being sent off for testing. We are getting him scheduled for a cat scan at University of Florida vet medicine (awaiting a call back from them to schedule). If the cat scan does not reveal cancer (specifically checking the brain, liver, lungs and spleen) then our primary vet will schedule him for his spleen removal. The spleen removal will not however take care of the immediate situation- he is drinking copious amounts of water and diluting his urine way down and making his blood very thick like sludge. Over the weekend we have limited his water intake to 3 cups of water a day and 250 ml of lactated ringer fluids. This seems to be helping at least keep him comfortable. There is still an underlying reason he is so thirsty, and we are still searching for those answers. We are still waiting for a hormone test to come back from UF which could lead us to a diagnosis of diabetes insipidus. This morning his RBC was still high, so they “blood let” him (drew a bunch of blood as he has too much) and we were instructed to give him 300 ml of fluids when we got home, which we did. Please continue praying that we get answers soon. He is a fighter. We are so incredibly thankful for his Trupanion policy as none of this expensive treatments and testing would have been financially feasible if it were not for them. When I recommended Trupanion for every animal you get, I wholeheartedly believe in them. Thank you for your continued patience and prayers while both Pickles and I are dealing with health issues. 💕🐾

I will be closed on Monday also. We have a “Quality of life” appointment with our primary vet, whom we love and trust, Monday morning. I have had to refer some of my clients to Angela at Vetted K9. I am thankful to have another great groomer right down the street. Thank you for your understanding and patience during this difficult time.

Pickles update- we are home. His fna’s were inconclusive. He needs his spleen removed, and sent off. They do not think that has anything to do with what originally brought us to the vet which was he was obsessively drinking and urinating. Gallons, he won’t stop. They also want to do a cat scan to see if he has a brain tumor or cancer in the lungs. His urine is diluted and his blood is thick. His red blood cells are very high. They are supposed to email me with estimates for all of this. Its going cost a lot more for the testing he will need and we may still have no answers. We have already spent a lot on this. He is an almost 8 year old frenchie, thats old for a frenchie. We are now rationing his water, and he is not happy about that because he is so thirsty, he won’t stop drinking though, and then he pee’s everywhere, and its messing his system up. This all just started a few weeks ago. He never drank or urinated this much before. There was a whole bunch more discussed, recommended and already tested I am leaving off as I am tired and want some sleep, in my bed, with my babies. I will post more tomorrow if anyone is interested.
I am looking forward to hearing our primary vets opinion.

Friday morning update- He has a mass on his spleen. The internal medicine doctors are going to do a fine needle aspirate of it today. Best case scenario he gets his spleen removed. Thank you for the continued prayers. 🙏 💕🐾
