How Many Calories Should Your Pets Have Daily? 🐾

Decoding the right calorie intake for your pets can be a challenge. But don’t worry, we’re here to help! 🥰

Understanding the caloric needs of your pets is crucial to keep them healthy and happy. From active pups to senior kitties, each pet is unique and so are their dietary needs. 🐶🐱

For our canine companions, a rough guide is: Daily Calories= (Body Weight in kg^0.75) ×70. So, a 10-pound pooch might need around 400 calories per day.

Our feline friends generally need about 20 calories per pound of body weight each day. Meaning, a 10-pound cat might need roughly 200 calories daily.

But remember, these are just estimates. Factors like age, breed, activity levels, health status, and spay/neuter condition play a significant role in determining the right calorie intake.

Don’t forget to keep track of their body condition score, too! It’s not just about the number on the scale, but also how your pet carries their weight. 😌

Meet Phydeaux (pronounced Fido) 🐶

✨ A Border Collie mix pup who came to the shelter with his mom and siblings after being rescued from a field in Central
Valley CA

✨ Phydeaux is a fabulous puppy, very good natured, smart, social, cuddly and trusting

✨ We estimate he will be approximately 35-45 lbs full grown
