Hey all! we are returning home this afternoon. I have just found out that interviews for a replacement lab coordinator, (my helper in the class I'm teaching this semester), is this Wed. which means if I want any say in who gets hired I have to be on the interview committee. which means I
l'll have to be at MATC all day....which means no doggy daycare. sorry.

I really want to start up a dog training class for kids and their dogs. Watching kids learn to communicate and train their dogs in science based, positive ways is a joy! If you think your family would be interested let me know and I'll start looking for a venue. I'm thinking basic obedience and tricks would be the focus.

Last night I spoke with a great woman with a young Chihuahua mix pup. she is having difficulty potty training the pup. she had called a different trainer prior to speaking with me who recommended using a shock collar to train this puppy. I was astounded and a little sickened by that. I don't want to open a debate on whether shock collars are correct or not; they have their place. But not on puppies with an issue that can be solved with some containment, strategic rewarding and feeding. Too sad....
