Jen here!

Why is it every time something happens and we say we're taking a break we seem to get an influx of satins 🥴 I swear at some point we are going to end up being satin only just with the amount we've seen recently. So I'm here to introduce the new guys and girl! We have two that are with one of our Rescue partners that will be coming to us soon. But one of our absolutely phenomenal Foster/ adopters who volunteers at an animal shelter in New Jersey reached out about a suspiciously shiny pig. In talking with her more we found out that it was the shiny pig and several siblings from a case that started as two pegs and just kept growing (as pigs tend to do) they had surrendered all of the babies to the shelter and kept both of the moms. But unfortunately for the babies it does look like they are satin/satin carriers. One of the older maybes I know is a Satin egg I am suspicious of two of the younger babies but well yay more satins! 🙃 These guys are all absolutely adorable and unfortunately at least one of the carriers appears to have something not quite right with him despite them all being pretty young. Also the curly haired boy is now my biological son 😂 I just love him so much and he will absolutely be staying with me permanently! The rest of them will likely be split between myself and Danni but hot dam We are going to need the satins to cool down just a little.

Either way while me and Danni have a bit of a mental breakdown over this does anybody want to play guess which one the satin is! I mixed all the pictures up see if you can spot him 😅

Question: How many rats can fit in a bathtub
Answer: At least 15

We are introducing everyone since the transport has been put off. It’s going surprisingly great! I was expecting more issues due to some big personalities lol

I have a human doctor appt this afternoon and the I'll be bringing Brigid to Southern Maine again. She was recently diagnosed with heart disease but last weekend went into CHF. We are working on the right combo and dosages of meds for her but I think she may need a 3rd on board. For the life of me, I cannot remember the name if it, we don't usually need a 3rd but I think in this case, it may be necessary. Any love towards today's visit would be great.

Today I have some very bittersweet news. Our sweet Mantis passed away yesterday. And I say bittersweet because when he and the others from the Monmouth hoarding case came through our doors, I just cried as soon as Isaw them. They had bite wounds all over their bodies, to the point that they had so much scar tissue built up, their fur never grew back in a lot of spots. (We had to shave them to see the extent of the damage).

But his glow up was pretty darn incredible. He went from being in so much pain, he could barely walk to a fairly active older, and plump fella. He like being neighbors with Monarch even though Monarch was the aggressor of the group. So they were bar buddies and enjoyed taking to eachother and sometimes even laying next to eachother against the grids. He did have some favorite foods (green bell peppers, not red, and spring mix) and honestly, given what he had been through, I definitely snuck him extra and went out of my way to give him his favorites even if it wasn't on the menu for the rest of the group. He had such an endearing smile and was such a simple fella. I offered him all the hideys and enrichment he could have ever wanted and he just preferred the blue plastic hidey over everything else.

I'm gonna miss him so much, but what a joy it was to make his retirement the best ever. Popcorn free my friend.

Not a good picture in the slightest but I gave Audrina a tank upgrade since she'll be here longer than anticipated. Which is totally fine, she can go back down to Jen once we get these much longer transports out of the way. Audrina is one of our Chushy hamsters that has Microphthalmia. She's so sweet and always busy which is why I couldn't get a good picture of her.
I added her enrichment items a little bit later. I just wanted to give her stuff a good scub before adding in the new tank.

Spending some time with Phoenix. I think he will be due for his next round of bloodwork soon to see where his liver levels are.

Some hay would be super duper great. The giant boxes of Blue Mountain Orchard Grass go a long way but I wouldn't mind trying a small bag of the Teff hay just to see if I'm allergic. It's supposed to be really good but goodness knows I react to everything 🙄

There are some things we didn't share because we were elbow deep in dealing with some unpleasant people but I think we have washed our hands if it for the time.

While we trying to get Alanna's house emptied and cleaned the landlord and property manager out up a lot of roadblocks for us to get the job done. They wouldn't let us in the house any sooner than the 21st and in that time some high end stuff got stolen from the house. We are filing a police report as well as sending an inventory list to the insurance company. We are just trying to sort through some more stuff to make sure our list is complete.

Originally the landlord told us we could not come in on weekends to clean out which was a huge problem because people have to work during the week so obviously we couldn't finish in one day. We finally talked them into letting us come on Saturday the 23rd. But the landlord sent away the dumpster we had rented to finish cleaning because it "might leave divits in the grass". So the dumpster company charged us full price plus a fee for the inconvenience. And then the landlord had the nerve to ask us when were coming back to finish cleaning and I gave them a very big piece of my mind and told them the rest of the cleaning was on them. Most likely they will try to bill the estate and some things they are absolutely within their right to do but anything pertaining to cleaning, I will be contesting. We made an honest effort to clean and remove everything and time and time again, they made it impossible.

Anyway, several of us had to go into our own pockets to cover things and I want to make sure friends and family don't have to worry about their own bills and groceries because of this so if anyone can send a few💲our way for that would be great. This falls under the personal side, not the rescue side of things so I'll add my personal info below.
