SCOUT IS OFFICIALLY AVAILBLE FOR ADOPTION! Scout is a 15.1h, 17 year old Appaloosa. He has completed his evaluations, and this boy is living up to his name! He is a sweet, affectionate guy who loves attention and seems to have a special soft spot for kids.
During his evaluation, Scout wasn’t a fan of the bit we tried, so we switched to riding him in a halter, and he did great! He handled my daughter climbing all over him and riding him without a fuss. He stood quietly and patiently for all the extra attention, showing off his sweet, easy going personality.
Scout appears to be the kind of horse who is consistent and uncomplicated, although we’ll be putting more consistent rides on him to confirm that. He is good for the vet and farrier, too!
Like any horse, Scout has a few things he’s still working on. He needs more patience when standing tied and some work on willingly holding up his right front hoof. He can be a little dramatic about fly spray, but with someone calmly holding his lead rope, he handles it without even flinching! Scout is being adopted out as a light riding (walk only) horse, as he has the start of DSLD. But don't let that discourage you from meeting him! He still has plenty of riding years left, just not trot or canter.
Scout is an all-around lovable boy who enjoys human companionship and would love a person of his own to dote on him.
