Hog Haven Farm Hog Haven Farm is a nonprofit pig rescue and sanctuary in Colorado.

Our mission is to provide a safe environment for potbellied pigs that are rescued from situations of abuse, neglect, or abandonment. HHF strives to promote compassion for all animals, and to allow these animals to live happy lives without fear and suffering. We currently offer therapy pet programs across the Denver metro area, and our list includes memory care facilities, nursing homes, assisted living communities, libraries, and more! In the long term, Hog Haven Farm aims to:

ā€¢ Promote potbellied pigs as the third recognized domesticated animal and pet by providing education and resources to the general public
ā€¢ Provide a safe home for rescued livestock (including potbelly pigs) to call home; a place for rehabilitation of livestock animals; and a welcoming environment for the community to become better acquainted with animals associated with food
ā€¢ Educate the community about potbelly pigs as creatures and pets
ā€¢ Educate the community about farm animals through volunteer programs, organization visits to the farm (schools, etc.), and allow community to work directly with the animals to learn more about them
ā€¢ Educate the community about sustainable food options; farm animals are more than dinner, and educational programs are paramount in creating change within the food industry
ā€¢ Create outreach program for children with autism (research strongly suggests that animals increase positive social behaviors with children that have ASD)

New a-frames were donated and installed for piggies yesterday, thanks to our friend Ricky. These structures are crucial for providing shade for the pigs, since we are on the plains with minimal treesā€”and the pigs love to rub up on the frames, too!

We had an awesome volunteer day today, getting a fence line redone, new gate installed, and two portahut shelters moved to prepare for an incoming shed. Lulu wasnā€™t happy about the huts being moved, and had to lay in the huts former spot to protest šŸ˜‚

Happy 11th birthday, Bentley!

This sweet little bub has been at HHF for 10 years, but it took him a long time to really blossom and come out of his shell. Over the last few years, Bentley has become really social and enjoys meeting new visitors!

He has developed some health issues this year, that we are working on managing with direction from Dr. Ali. He loves his special meals and special treatmentā€”and he really loved his special snackies today!

This is the pen we call the Indy penā€”though itā€™s a mix of pigs from all sorts of backgrounds these days. Pictured are the smallest and largest pigs in this area: Edna Bangz, a ~150lbs potbelly, and Lydia, a ~900lbs Hampshire šŸ„°

Edna has ALWAYS loved much bigger pigs. She usually can be found in Jakeā€™s company, but she adores Lydia (aka Big Mama) as well. Theyā€™re so cute cuddled up next to one another šŸ©µ
