🔥 Wildfire Smoke & Horse Health 🐴💨

Poor air quality can be harmful not only to us but our horses too. Smoke from wildfires can irritate a horse's respiratory system and cause fatigue, coughing, difficulty breathing, etc.

You can monitor local air quality at www.airnow.gov. During periods of poor air quality, you can protect your horse's health by:

🐎 Limiting or avoiding exercise.
💧 Providing free access to fresh water.
💦 Controlling dust such as watering dry lots and soaking or feeding dust-free hay.
🕰 Allowing time for recovery: airway damage from wildfire smoke takes 4 to 6 weeks to heal after air quality returns to normal.
☎️ Consult your vet if you notice signs of smoke irritation.

X-ray day is just 1 week away! This is best suited for those horses that want hoof x-rays for the farrier, want to monitor areas of previously diagnosed arthritis, or you just want to see what your horse’s bones look like.

🐴 Cost is $15 facility fee per horse and $35 per x-ray image.
🐴 A valid VCPR is required! This means that Dr. Selleck has examined the horse having x-rays done within the last year. If you do not have a valid VCPR, a brief exam will be charged and performed prior to x-rays.
🐴 This is not meant to diagnose a lameness. If your horse is lame, a more extensive exam and discussion will be needed and should be scheduled at a different time.
🐴 You must pre-schedule so that not everyone shows up at once!

Dr. Selleck of 317 Equine Care has some awesome upcoming events!

We have several days to mark on your calendar for this spring!

1. For the month of April, we will be offering 25% off the cost of a dental float. Those on a Pony Plan are not eligible.
