Judy wanted to enjoy life with Red, but being pulled down and dragged on a day to day basis left her feeling frustrated and without control. That frustration began to take a toll on their relationship.

Working with Katie and the Maximum Canine family helped Judy learn how to work with the dog in front of her—understanding Red’s drive, giving him direction, and building clear communication through our training system.

With that clarity came more control, more confidence, and room for a stronger relationship. Now, Judy can enjoy Red and keep building the bond she hoped for. ❤️

Judy, thank you for trusting our team and putting in the work. Watching you and Red grow together means so much to us.

Special delivery 📦🐾

For Oslo, a knock or doorbell used to mean barking and reacting at the door. Now, he’s learning a new routine: head to “spot” and stay while his owner answers.

Sending him to his spot gives him a clear job to do instead of barking at the door.

Same doorbell, different response—and an everyday delivery becomes a chance to put his training to work.

Does your dog announce every package? 🔔

Yes, today we are using hot dogs as a distraction. 😂🌭

It looks silly, but food can be a HUGE distraction for dogs. In our Level 4 off-site obedience class, we’re practicing staying engaged with their handler even when something tempting is right under their nose.

Think outdoor dining, a crowded barbecue, or walking past someone holding a snack. These are situations you’ll encounter in the real world, and your dog won’t always be surrounded by people keeping food out of reach.

We practice these moments so your dog learns that a distraction isn’t an invitation to break obedience. Staying connected with you still matters, even when hot dogs are involved. 🐾

🎃 Which dog do you want on Halloween?

Halloween can be a LOT for dogs. Costumes, masks, doorbells, knocking, strangers walking up to the house, and people standing at the front door over and over again.

That’s why you don’t want to wait until October 30th to start practicing.

Start working on it now, and build it in baby steps:

1️⃣Practice having someone approach the door, then send your dog to place ( their bed or a designated spot) and reward them when they get there.

2️⃣Once they’re successful there, practice opening the door while they stay in that spot. Reward them for holding position.

3️⃣Then progress to letting the person come inside, move around, and interact with you while your dog remains in their designated spot. Keep rewarding the behavior you want.

Don’t rush through the steps. If your dog struggles, make it easier and build back up.

The goal isn’t to magically have a calm dog on Halloween night. The goal is to create enough successful repetitions beforehand that your dog already understands what to do when the real distractions show up.

Patience + repetition + starting early = a much calmer Halloween. 🎃🐶
