Today is World Rabies Day!

β˜€ World Rabies Day marks the anniversary of Louis Pasteur's death, who developed the first effective rabies vaccine.

🀝 This year's theme is "Stronger Together" and calls on governments, communities, and veterinary health professionals to unite for rabies elimination.

πŸ‘©β€βš•οΈ Did you know that since 2023, 70 animals have tested positive for rabies in Montana? We've also seen an increase in how often people are recommended to receive PEP, the lifesaving protection needed after an exposure or possible exposure.

πŸ›‘ Keeping Rabies in control is about education and prevention. At CFVC, we can offer guidance and recommendations after a bite or possible exposure. We're also here to help with rabies vaccines, which are safe, effective, and core vaccines for all dogs, cats, and horses.

Call us today with questions or to get scheduled for any necessary rabies vaccinations!

🐾 Anxiety in Pets Isn't Just About Fireworks πŸ’™

While loud noises are a common trigger, many pets experience anxiety in other situations, too. Recognizing the signs early can help your pet get the support they need.

Here are a few common types of anxiety we see:

🏠 Separation Anxiety – Your pet becomes distressed when left alone, which may lead to barking, destructive behavior, accidents in the house, or pacing.

πŸ‘₯ Social Anxiety – Fear or discomfort around unfamiliar people, animals, or new environments can cause pets to hide, become reactive, or avoid interaction.

πŸš— Situational Anxiety – Some pets become anxious during car rides, grooming appointments, boarding, or even veterinary visits.

🌎 Generalized Anxiety – Some pets experience ongoing anxiety without one obvious trigger. They may seem constantly on edge, restless, or unable to relax.

⚠️ Common signs of anxiety include:
β€’ Excessive barking or meowing
β€’ Pacing or restlessness
β€’ Trembling or panting
β€’ Hiding or clinginess
β€’ Destructive behavior
β€’ Changes in appetite
β€’ Accidents in the house or outside the litter box
β€’ Excessive licking or grooming

The good news? Anxiety is treatable. Whether your pet needs behavior training, environmental changes, or medication, we're here to help create a plan that fits their needs.

If you've noticed any of these signs in your pet, give Clark Fork Veterinary Clinic a call @ 406-846-1925. Together, we can help them feel calmer, happier, and more confident. ❀️🐢🐱
