Porcupine season is here! 🦔🐶 Dogs off leash near wooded areas are at risk of quill injuries, especially at dawn, dusk, and during rain or storm days. Keep your furry friends safe by keeping them leashed if they tend to wander. Did you know?
- Porcupines are slow and not easily scared of dogs or people
- They swing and strike with their tails. They do not throw their quills.
- They are nocturnal
- Baby porcupines are born late spring
- Their quills are hollow with barbed ends. They do not contain any toxin or poison. NEVER cut them.
- Quills located in the chest are considered an emergency

Stay vigilant and protect your pups! Quill removal is no fun and often requires sedation!

🚩ALERT🚩
Scammers and hackers are circulating a link-generated scam that tags followers in the comments of a Facebook post in attempt to get them to click a link. These are known as "phishing" scams and are more prevalent than ever. Please do NOT click ANY links that seem suspicious, too good to be true, or are from people you do not know! Clicking the link puts your personal Facebook account at risk and spreads the scam further.

Thank you for your attention to this matter!

We are celebrating National Veterinary Receptionist Appreciation Week! 📞🐾 We are so lucky to be able to celebrate our three wonderful receptionists who help the hospital run smoother and create clear lines of communication. They are there to answer your questions, schedule appointments, triage our cases, and support the staff... among so many other things! If you see them this week, please give them a high five and a shoutout for all of their hard work and dedication!

THANK YOU to Becca, Alex, and Colleen! 💜

Fresh air, blooming flowers, and… allergy season. If your pet starts licking their paws or rubbing their face more, they might be reacting to spring allergens!
