OUR GUARDIANSHIP PROGRAM
Raising Breeding Dogs in Real Homes, With Intention
At Sporting Ridge K9’s, we believe our breeding dogs deserve the same thing we want for the puppies they produce — stability, structure, and a true home environment.
Our guardianship program allows select families to raise one of our future breeding dogs as their own while remaining part of our long-term program. Rather than maintaining more dogs in our setting, we place them in carefully chosen guardian homes where they live as family members first.
This approach supports emotional stability, stronger bonding, and a consistent home life from puppyhood through adulthood.
What a Guardian Home Provides
Guardians raise the dog in their home as a family companion.
This includes:
• Daily care and structure
• Ongoing training and socialization
• Routine veterinary care
• Food and general wellness needs
• A stable home environment with a fenced yard
Guardians must live within two hours of Fort Wayne, Indiana and own their home.
We are intentional about placement. These dogs are future producers of emotional support, service, therapy, facility, and exceptional companion dogs. The way they are raised matters.
How the Program Works
For females, Sporting Ridge K9’s retains breeding rights for up to four litters.🐾 For males, breeding rights are retained for up to four years.
Sporting Ridge K9’s assumes all breeding-related expenses. Once a female has completed four litters, or a male completes his agreed term, the dog is spayed or neutered at our expense and full ownership is transferred to the guardian family.
If a dog is not used for breeding, the guardian is responsible for spay or neuter costs prior to ownership transfer.
The goal is simple: One home. One family. For life.
A Long-Term Commitment
Guardianship is not a shortcut to a free dog. It is a shared responsibility built on trust, communication, and long-term thinking.
We remain closely connected throughout the dog’s breeding career, offering guidance and support. At the end of the agreed term, the dog remains exactly where they’ve always belonged — with the family who raised them.
If this sounds like a program that aligns with your home and lifestyle, we would welcome a conversation.
