Please ensure your pets are vaccinated!
It could save their life as well as yours

Please see the attached release. A bat specimen recently submitted to the IDPH lab has tested positive for rabies. It was collected for testing following a potential exposure limited to a vaccinated pet at a residence in Clinton.

It is important to note that only a small percentage of bats carry rabies but prolonged close contact inside the home should be considered a potential exposure until testing of the specimen is completed. Additional guidance is provided in the release.
