Something I was taught while learning to train dogs is, Marlows hierarchy of needs. Because for any living being this is the most important pyramid of them all.

Often & understandably so people want a dog that will listen even when there is no treat or food provided. “They only listen when I have a treat” or “he’ll do anything for a treat”, 🙄😒 etc. Marlow’s hierarchy of needs is exactly why. Unlike humans, dogs don’t see anything besides food, water, shelter, & safety as vitally important. Although the rest of the pyramid can/does apply to them too, it all starts with food. So the next time Sparky doesn’t want to listen because you don’t have a treat, refer back to Marlow’s pyramid instead of being frustrated with his need to feed. 🐶

We also tend to listen/work better when we’re fed & have the promise of more available food/treats.

It’ll never get old walking into a house & having someone’s dog be so excited to see me! 💁🏼‍♀️💜🦮🐾 This is definitely the good life.

So proud of my last sit & train dog, Tala! We worked for 12 days straight on holding commands, leash manners, recall, & fear reactivity. 🌟 She really put in the work! Excited to see her continue to improve. Want your dog to learn while you’re on vacation?! 😎 Reach out & book your sit & train program today!

Had my first rude encounter with someone while training at the Artisan Alley Market tonight.

A man walking out of Cafe da Vinci’s told me to “take that f**king dog home.” because the dog I was training barked.

The thing about dog training though is, you can’t achieve certain levels of training at home. 💁🏼‍♀️ Unfortunately there will always be people like the guy tonight who thought he was right to tell us to F off.

Don’t worry though, I’ll continue to safely & appropriately utilize public spaces to help owners achieve their dog training goals. For reasons like the above, I strive for the approval of dogs & their humans way more than random people. 😃🦮🐾

It’s messages like these that keep my head in the game. Building a business isn’t easy & without my clients, none of it would come together. Thank you to everyone single person who hired me to train & or care for their dogs! 💜 I’ve lost count of all of you & that’s such a blessing! Each one of my former or current clients have taught me how to be a better version of myself. Affirmed what I believe I can accomplish & most importantly given me a work life I enjoy everyday. 🥹 I hope to continue working for dogs & their families for many more years to come! 🐕

Praise the Lord, our A/C went out 3 days ago. Yesterday we had a company come out & quote us $40k for a whole new system.

We can’t take on $40k in debt. So we bought some window units & fans instead. To suffice until we could find a better option.

This morning, the A/C is back up running!!!
Cold & strong. Just had to post & celebrate. The last three days have been brutal.
