Is your pet microchipped?

A microchip is a permanent form of ID that can help reunite a lost pet with their family. Unlike a collar or license tag, a microchip stays with your pet and can be scanned by animal shelters, vet offices and even some police departments.

A few things to know:

🐾 Microchips do not track your pet’s location. They contain a unique ID number that, when scanned, can be used to look up an owner’s contact information.

🐾 Keep your information current. A microchip is only useful if it’s registered and the contact information is up to date.

🐾 Microchips work alongside license tags. As a state law, dogs must still wear a current license tag even if they are microchipped.

Need to microchip your pet? The ARC offers microchips to the public for only $25, including registration. No appointment is needed--just stop in with your pet during open hours.

Having your pet chipped takes just a few minutes, but it can make a big difference if they ever go missing. ❤️

Fosters are an important part of helping shelter dogs find their forever home. By welcoming a dog into your home temporarily, you give them a break from the shelter, a chance to decompress and an opportunity to show their true personality while they wait for their next chapter.

You provide: a safe place, love and patience, and the everyday comforts of home.

The ARC provides: the dog, food, basic supplies and vet care, and support to help make the experience a success.

Fostering can be short-term or longer-term, depending on the dog's needs and your availability.
