Ruff Transport Ruff Transport is an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) organization that helps bridge the gap for animals needing a ride to a rescue, foster, or approved adopter.

Ruff Rescue Transport is an all volunteer, 501(c)(3) organization that helps bridge the gap for animals needing a ride to a rescue. Without a ride, many of the animals would not make it out of high intake shelters. Our mission is to help end the needless euthanasia of dogs and cats by transporting them to locations where they are more adoptable. We partner with reputable 501(c)(3) rescues, who will ultimately find our passengers good homes. Ruff Transport is here to do our part in helping these animals. Thank you for your support of our mission.

Thursday pick ups included 4 to board with us, a beagle for BREW , plus lots of kitties heading to a longer transport that day.
One of the dogs ( the Aussie looking spaniel), is probably the daddy of pregnant Autumn's litter of pups (from last week) They were found running together on Martin County, KY. Thanks Lamamcha for taking him too, and of course to the rescue workers down there who work so hard to get dogs out.
Friday @ Roz drove a million hours in traffic, but she was able to add Jasper to our small pack of dogs overnighting. They left with Tonis Team on Saturday for Lamancha.
Lastly, shout out to my husband for cleaning all those kennels Saturday while i was driving, before you headed out to do your own volunteer work. I appreciate you so much 😘

I want to share a story about a pregnant dog named Autumn, who we helped get to Lamancha in PA Friday and Saturday. She was just days away from giving birth in a rural shelter, with nobody to really help her should there be any issues. The shelter is typically visited once a day for a brief time, and nobody is there most of time.
A couple ladies come in to take pictures about once a week so the dogs can be networked to rescues. Lamancha said yes to Autumn, and due to her condition, Gabbert really scrambled fast to get her vetted, and alert Ruff Transport and Toni's Team of the urgency to get her moved.
She got to her rescue in the nick of time. By Sunday, Autumn was showing signs of labor but not progressing. On Monday, the director of Lamancha sent her to their vet because something seemed off. Autumn ended up with a baby stuck in her birth canal and needed an emergency C section. Thanks to the rescues intuition, she is now the proud Mamma of 10 little ones. Every pup survived. I dont even want to think about what could have happened if things didn't align.

We received a generous donation recently from another Autumn. This Autumn is human and my sister. I do love it when dogs come in with names of people I love ❤️. Its the end of the year where we are running on fumes. Thank you Autumn and family, for helping us fund more rides, overnights and vetting to help get more homeless animals to safety. We Ruff You!

Runs on Thursday, Friday and today to help out a few groups. I overnighted Miss Autumn ( collie in first picture) who was very pregnant. I was relived to wake up and see that she had not delivered yet 😅! Such a sweet girl. Thank you to everyone involved.

2 overnighters headed to Lamancha this morning with Toni's Team. They are from Martin county, KY. The dogs there do not get out unless a rescue steps up.

The 8 puppies were from a bad situation in another county. Thanks Pat for networking and to Barely Used Pets for saying "yes".
Transports and overnights are always free to reputable 501c3 rescues, thanks to your donations.

Friday travel brought up six dogs. Two of them are staying with me until Tuesday, as their rescue is unable to take them until then.

The overnight dogs have lots of seed ticks and prior confinement ( they came from the shelter). They crave affection, freedom to run and food. I love them- ticks and all. They are the sweetest!
Thank you Joan for offering to drive them on a very long leg this Tuesday so they can get to rescue! I should have them all clean up by then.
Thanks Rescue Haven and Pat Henry for saving the others!

We helped Toni's Team with kitties heading to a longer transport team on Thursday. We also hosted Scout and Newt from Owen county, KY for a couple nights. Its always gratifying when i have a little extra time with the transport dogs, can see them relax and have fun, (and get them clean!). Its more work, but also very rewarding.

Early this morning I drove them north to meet up with the first leg of Toni's Team of drivers. The team has dedicated this run to Kevin Little. Kevin and Wanda Little have been running their route for this Saturday run for many many years , and helped save hundreds of dogs. Kevin passed away suddenly and all of us on Toni's Team feel this deeply. Big hugs to Wanda running solo today. I know Kevin is with us all today to get Scout and Newt safely to Lamancha. Big hug to Wanda today ♥️

Bean ( Momma Coffee Bean) is enroute to the vet this morning to finally get her cherry eye fixed and spayed. 🙏 that all goes well for her today.
She sure has gone through a lot. Abandoned in Dayton and huddled in a backyard for days, so scared. Thank you Adopt A Pit for bringing her into your program. We have been helping her as a foster. We are a transport nonprofit, but sometimes we have to slow down and help what is in front of us.

She has had many litters, including her last litter, born in June a little while after she arrived here. She lost all her hair after their birth, had trouble with painful nursing and generally in poor health. She is looking good now and feeling so much better. This next step will get her closer to finding a family of her own and living the life she deserves.

Friday we did a run for dogs going to four different rescues. Six of them came home with me for an overnight pawty. They are making their way to PA today with Toni's Team.
Thanks Lamancha for helping the overnighters. They were great dogs! Poor older pups were in danger of being shot, so they were late additions. The longer part of their journey today needed many additional drivers to fit everyone. This type of urgency can make it tough on transport coordinators to find enough help in time along the route. Thanks to all that ran for Toni today and got all of them to safety!

We hosted a couple very pregnant doodles last night. One is 35 days along and the other 2-3 weeks from delivery.
They came from Morrow, OH where a man's 4 dogs became over 60 dogs, and he finally reached out for help. Myles Ahead Animal Sanctuary and Rescue was local and they knew they needed a wide network of other rescues involved in order to save them.
The two girls that stayed here needed to get to rescue in northern OH. They are already in route now, so their puppies will be born in a safe environment.
Just yesterday, they thought many would have to be killed with no place to go, but thankfully they all got a rescue to help them. It sometimes takes more than a village. It was more like an army of animal rescue volunteers that dropped everything so these young dogs could live. Most have never even been outside before. Spay and neuter everyone...this was a huge mess.

Brought a few homeless animals up for 3 different rescues Friday.
Held an overnight for one sweet beagle, Reba, who had an incredibly hard start in life. She is still recovering but on her way to PA today.
The older heeler pups were dumped out on a rural road to whatever fate had in store for them. They beat the odds when a local rescuer was able to hold them. They beat the odds again when a rescue said they could take them in. Glad we could help with their journey to safety and new beginnings.
