Say hello to our Pet of the Week! This is Clary!
Clary is a lop-eared rabbit who was in to see Dr. Mazzei this week. She is "lop-eared" because her ears are down instead of standing up. She also has something called a dewlap. This is a structure mostly found in female rabbits. It is the tissue around Clary's neck that looks like a double-chin. Female rabbits actually pull fur from this area to line their nest. This keeps their babies warm and provides mom's scent for comfort.
Rabbits make great pets! If handled from an early age, they can be quite cuddly. They can be litter box trained and tend to be meticulously clean. Their fur is super soft, and their little noses are just the BEST! Believe it or not, rabbits can have QUITE the personality! If you have a pet rabbit in need of a checkup, give us a call!
