Will you join us to help us pay off our mortgage?

Interest rates are sky-high, and most commercial loans involve adjustable-rate mortgages, which could put us at risk of paying even higher interest rates again in 5 years. With a 15-year loan, we would pay around $50,000 in interest over the life of the $80,000 loan. That's a LOT of lost program support.

Instead, we'd like to pay off the mortgage - and that's where you and this campaign can make an enormous difference! We are seeking to raise $80,000 to pay off the mortgage in full, freeing us up from a monthly payment and all of that interest. We'd like to start off strong by raising $10,000 by the end of 2023 - can you help?

Gem City Vet offers low-cost wellness care to pets in low-income families, who otherwise may not be able to afford treatment at all. With exams for $15 and vaccines starting at $8, we work hard to keep veterinary care accessible to every pet. Our clinic location has also allowed us to expand our Intake Program and take in more homeless cats directly from the public.

If a donation isn’t an option for you, you can still be a huge help to pets in Dayton by spreading the word! Share this announcement with your friends, family, and other connections - you never know who we might reach when we work together.

Cats not using the litter box can be frustrating for the humans in the home! Remember, cats don't do things out of spite. If a cat isn't using their box and is having issues with inappropriate elimination, there is something wrong that they need your help to solve. Here are the steps to take to figure out the issues and get back on track!

1. Rule out medical issues. Bring your kitty to see us, or another veterinarian, so that any medical problems could be discovered and treated.

2. If pets aren't spayed or neutered, schedule an appointment. For low cost places in Dayton, visit , , or .

3. Troubleshoot the box set up:
- is the box clean? Scoop often and dump and clean the box frequently too.
- are there enough boxes (recommend one per cat at least!)
- do they like the type of litter? Try a few!
- do they like the type of box? Covered, uncovered, tall, short?
- do they like the box placement? Quiet places with privacy are best!

4. Troubleshoot other stress in the home:
- did you recently get a new pet or human family member? They may need time to adjust.
- are there outdoor cats bothering them? Try to block their view or access.
- give them their own spaces! Their own beds and perches help give them an area of their own.
- do they have enough enrichment? Find out how they like to play!

There's so much more we couldn't cover in this post, but there are tons of details on the website! Link here to go directly to their litterbox troubleshooting guide:https://bit.ly/litterboxissues
