It is important to show our fur babies that the vet does not need to involve pain and/or fear.

So what can we do as pet parents?

✨Happy Visits : These are short, positive, trips to the vet to improve their mindset and experience!

This long weekend, this is a quick reminder to remember and honor all those who have served, are serving, and who have lost their lives during or after their service.

While we all can appreciate a long weekend, don't forget to take a moment to remember the reason.

We will be open our normal hours, 8am-4pm tomorrow May 23, 2026.
However, we will be closed Sunday and Monday.
Please contact us tomorrow during normal business hours for any medication or food refills.

And remember to keep your pets safe and secure in case there are fireworks, and away from dangerous / human treats.

🐾 Is your pet just "slowing down"... or is it something more? 🐾
Did you know that Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common cause of chronic pain in our four-legged family members?
May is Arthritis Awareness Month!
It affects at least 1 in 5 dogs and a staggering 40% to 90% of cats during their lifetime.
Yet, so many cases go undiagnosed because the early signs are incredibly subtle. It’s easy to mistake a little less energy for "just getting older," but our pets are experts at hiding their discomfort.
🔍 Signs to Watch For:
Reluctance to exercise or go on usual walks
Difficulty rising after a nap or hesitation before jumping onto the couch/bed
Behavioral changes (like irritability, withdrawal, or sudden grumpiness)
Changes in grooming habits (especially in cats)
⚠️ Why Early Detection Matters
When OA is left untreated, it leads to a heavy cycle of chronic pain, reduced mobility, muscle loss, and weight gain. Sadly, this drastically reduces their quality of life and can even cut our time with them short.
The good news? It doesn’t have to be that way! While osteoarthritis can't be cured, it can be effectively managed. Early intervention means we can protect their joints, manage their pain, and keep them happy, active, and comfortable for years to come.

🐾 Patient Spotlight: Rooster’s Road to Recovery 🐾
Meet Rooster, one of our recent orthopedic superstars! This brave boy came to see us after an accident that resulted in a condyle fracture—a serious break involving the rear joint.

Why was Rooster’s injury a big deal?
This specific injury is notoriously difficult to repair. The difficulty is generally due to the break being so close to, and involving, the joint!

The Fix:
Dr. Lohani performed an internal fixation to get Rooster’s leg all "put together again" (kind of like the old story of "Humpty Dumpty"). We used specialized compression screws and a bone plate to act as internal "braces," holding the joint surface together while the bone knits back together.

How is Rooster doing?
He is a total champ! While he’d probably rather be out chasing squirrels, he’s been a perfect patient during his leash-only walks and crate time.

Recovery from a major joint surgery is a marathon, not a sprint, but with his family's dedicated care and some specialized PT, Rooster will be back to his spunky self in no time!

We've received a lot of questions about the "black VW beetle" in the ditch at our office today.

This car belongs to our sweet groomer, Ana. When coming back from her lunch break, a drunk driver unfortunately hit her and forced her car into the ditch. The driver then fled the scene.

Luckily, Miss Ana is okay, just some whiplash! However, we are not sure if her car will be.
At this time, she won't be able to groom until next week or so. We will keep our grooming clients updated.

A huge thank you to our understanding groom clients whose pups couldn't get their full hair cut today.

Another huge thank you to Dawson County Sheriff's Office - Dawsonville, GA and GSP who were able to catch the driver and keep our roads safer for everyone.

Please keep her in your thoughts while she navigates all of this!

❄️In light of the current weather warnings and for the safety of our staff and community, we are sharing an update regarding our operating hours:

Tomorrow’s Schedule 🗓️
We plan to be open until at least 1:00 PM tomorrow. We will continue to monitor weather and road conditions throughout the day to determine if we can safely remain open later.

Monday and Tuesday Schedule 🗓️
At this time, our hours for Monday and Tuesday are to be determined. We will make a final decision based on the safety of the roadways. We may need to delay our opening to ensure our staff and clients can travel without risk.

Urgent Needs & Sick Pets 🚨
If your pet is sick or you require an urgent appointment, please call us at 706-216-7387 to schedule. We are prioritizing immediate medical needs during these modified hours.

Our staff's safety, your safety and the well-being of your pets are our top priorities. We appreciate your understanding as we navigate these conditions.
