When Daredevil first arrived in our care at just 2 to 3 weeks old, he was in rough shape. He weighed a heartbreaking 4.5 ounces (140g)โabout half of what a kitten his age should weigh. He was cold, hungry, battling a severe upper respiratory infection (URI) that left him unable to suckle, and his left eye was already ruptured.
We immediately jumped into action with a round-the-clock regimen of antibiotics, syringe feeding, and pain management. Slowly, we started seeing glimpses of hope. The left eye began to clear up a bit, and he finally started gaining weight.
Then one night he took a turn for the worse. ๐
Daredevil was clearly in a massive amount of pain despite his medications, and he completely stopped eating. At his next feeding, our hearts broke when we saw that his remaining good eye, the right one, had also ruptured.
But if there is one thing to know about this tiny boy, itโs that he is a fighter.
Once the pressure in his eye was relieved, Daredevil actually started feeling much better. He ate a full meal and finallyโfor the first time since coming into rescue careโsuccessfully pooped!
๐๐ก๐๐ญโ๐ฌ ๐ง๐๐ฑ๐ญ ๐๐จ๐ซ ๐๐๐ซ๐๐๐๐ฏ๐ข๐ฅ?
Because he is still so incredibly small, he cannot safely undergo surgery yet. Our current mission is to keep him comfortable, pain-free, and growing until he is big enough to safely handle anesthesia. Once he reaches that milestone, he will need surgery to have his eye sockets cleaned up and closed.
Despite being completely blind and dealing with so much trauma in his short life, Daredevil has an absolutely incredible spirit. He is back to making progress, one brave step at a time.

Medical rescues like Daredevilโs require intensive, ongoing veterinary care, specialized medications, and eventual surgery. We cannot do this without our incredible community.
