Yolo County SPCA The Yolo County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals
(1)

The Yolo County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, or YCSCPA, was founded in 1974 by a small group of dedicated people committed to improving the lives of animals in the area. Through the years, we have grown and expanded our programs to help better serve the animals, and people, of Yolo County. Through adoption events, public education and outreach, and active promotion of the bene

fits of spaying and neutering, Yolo County SPCA strives to provide a better future for the people and pets in our community.

We also had 9 pups who found their forever families, too! These animals were all adopted thanks to the hard work from our fosters and volunteers, and the incredible support from the community. We are so grateful to be able to save lives with your help!

Here’s to many more adoptions in June 🌸

We are back with another Where Are They Now Wednesday, and we're celebrating another adopt-iversary!

Anya (previously Freckles) was adopted from us just over a year ago and is still thriving in her fur-ever home. Anya first came to us after she was found as a stray with a fractured leg and was at risk of euthanasia at a Central California animal shelter. Thanks to our wonderful partners, UC Davis Fracture Program for Rescue Animals, Anya was able to get surgery to fix her leg. After months of crate rest, she became available for adoption, and the rest is history! Anya has gone on so many adventures and made lots of friends since being adopted, and is a wonderful example of how amazing rescue dogs can be. We couldn't be happier for her and her mom ā¤

For an extra fun bonus, we have a game of Guess the Breed for you! What two breeds do you think make up most of Anya's DNA? Comment your guesses below, and we will reveal the answers tomorrow.

To support the rescue of pups just like Anya, donate on our website, yolospca.org/donate. We are also always looking for new foster homes! The more foster homes we have, the more lives we can save. Email us at [email protected] to learn how you can become a Yolo County SPCA dog foster.

We can’t believe that sweet Pugsley hasn’t been getting more adoption interest! Who can resist that adorable squishy face 🄹

6-year-old Pugsley is an affectionate and personalble guy who bonds strongly with his people. Like a typical pug, his favorite things include food and socializing with friends. While he can be shy at first, once he warms up, he is a goofy guy who loves wrestle time with his doggie foster sisters.

Pugsley has done great living with other small dogs and cats. He would thrive in a quiet home with a patient family to shower him in love. He’s crate trained, and content to hang out in there for short periods during the day. He loves his neighborhood walks in the cool air and has even made a few appearances at the Midtown Farmer’s Market.

We would love to find a pug-savvy family for Pugsley as pugs are prone to a number of medical issues and require special care to keep them happy and healthy. If you think that family could be you - head to ourwebsite, yolospca.org/adopt, to submit an application!

It's National Rescue Dog Day, and what better way to celebrate than with a Where Are They Now Wednesday?

Bennie was adopted from us in 2023 and has gone on so many adventures since! He went from a lonely shelter dog to a beloved family member who has ventured to Vegas, and he even ran the Sac SPCA Doggy Dash this year. His family is so in love with him, and we couldn't be happier for them all!

There is a special joy that comes from adopting a rescue dog, knowing that you not only saved their life, but also opened up a spot for another dog to be saved. So many wonderful dogs are waiting for your love in local shelters and rescues. If you think you're ready to welcome a rescue dog into your life, head to our website, yolospca.org/adopt, to see the list of our adoptable dogs.

To support the rescue of pups just like Bennie, donate on our website, yolospca.org/donate. We are also always looking for new foster homes! The more foster homes we have, the more lives we can save. Email us at [email protected] to learn how you can become a Yolo County SPCA dog foster.

Come meet the National Park Puppies!

We will be at our thrift store in Downtown Davis this Friday, May 22nd, from 4-6pm with the puppies. Their mom, Sienna (who is also available for adoption), will be there, too!

We can’t wait to see you there!

Yesterday, we welcomed a new tiny puppy into the rescue and adoptable Sienna wasted no time to help her settle in šŸ’•

Sienna came to us with 7 puppies and her motherly instincts were quick to kick in when hanging out with the little one. She is really is still a puppy herself at only a year old, and it’s now her turn to be the spoiled baby.

Sienna is the perfect moderate-energy pup for someone who wants an adventure buddy that can also lounge around the house. She seems like she would enjoy having a doggie sibling, but is also happy to enjoy being the only dog - more attention for her! With a slow introduction, and confident cats, she has been able to live with kitty roommates.

Sienna is houstrained and is quick to pick up new skills. She is a smart and food-motivated girl! Our best guess is that she is an Australian Shepherd mix. She currently weighs about 40lbs, but would benefit from gaining a little weight.

Sienna can’t wait to be your new best friend! If she sounds like the girl for you, head to our website, yolospca.org/adopt, to submit an application!

**The tiny puppy has a lot of growing to do and likely will be available for adoption sometime in June.**

✨ADOPTED✨

The time has come! The first two puppies from our National Park Puppies are officially available for adoption!

Haleakalā & Sequoia are two of the adorable black and white female puppies from the litter. They may look very similar, but they have very different personalities. Haleakalā, or Hale for short, is on the more mellow side and is a big fan of cuddles and kissies. Sequoia is more active and playful and would love a family to take her on lots of adventures.

These girls are about 3 months old, and our best guess is that they are Australian shepherd/Staffordshire terrier mixes. They look nothing like their mom (adoptable Sienna) and seem to have inherited all of their darling looks from their dad (whom we never met). We estimate that they will be medium-sized and weigh about 40-50lbs when fully grown.

Hale and Sequioa have been in foster care for the past few weeks with other dogs, cats, and older kids. They both would make wonderful family dogs and will need families dedicated to continuing their training - including housetraining. They are looking for individual homes so that they can get the one-on-one training they need to learn all of their basic manners.

If either of these cuties sounds like the little buddy you need in your life, head to our website, yolospca.org/adopt, to submit an application!

**There are still two more female puppies and one male puppy in the litter who will be ready for adoption once they have been spayed/neutered.**
