Meet Deacon, an 8-year-old Doberman who came to see us in November for neck pain and wobbly hind limbs. Since starting acupuncture and laser therapy, he has made wonderful progress and is now much more comfortable and strong.

He is truly a model patient—such a sweet dog and an absolute A+ patient. 💛

We’d also like to recognize Deacon’s amazing owner, whose dedication and love for her dogs have truly made a difference in his healing journey.

Deacon’s care includes acupuncture, which helps improve circulation and immune system, reduce inflammation, and support the nervous system, and Class IV laser therapy, which uses a certain therapeutic wavelength to decrease pain and inflammation while promoting healing.

We are so proud of Deacon and grateful to be part of his journey. 🐾

🐾 Meet two of our animal physical rehabilitation hero dogs: Gregory and Geoffrey Oliver (aka the Sanchez brothers)! 🐾

These two are receiving their weekly physical rehabilitation sessions, which include acupuncture, laser therapy, and manual therapy.

💙 Gregory, a 13-year-old terrier mix, has been through so much. He lives with inflammatory bowel disease, chronic back pain, severe osteoarthritis of multiple joints and heart disease (mitral valve degeneration). This past summer, he also underwent a major open-chest surgery to remove pus and an abscess from his chest—we suspect a foxtail migrated from his throat into the chest.
Despite all of this, Gregory has been an absolute champ and continues to go strong with his signature spirit and resilience!

💚 Geoffrey, his brother, suffered an intervertebral disc injury two years ago that left him paralyzed in his hind limbs. Thanks to consistent physical rehabilitation, he has come an incredibly long way and remains mobile, active, and happy today.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to work with these amazing patients and to be part of their journeys. They inspire us every day. 🐶✨

🐾 Celebrating Our Senior Hero Dogs! 🐾
We’re excited to spotlight two of our amazing senior patients from Oak Tree Animal Rehabilitation who continue to inspire us every day! 💚

✨ Bronx
This handsome Akita is approaching 14 years old! Here he is doing his routine underwater treadmill workouts, which help him maintain strength, mobility, and flexibility. He works so hard and always brightens our day!

✨ Cinch
Cinch is a beautiful 15-year-old Kelpie. About a year and a half ago, she suffered a traumatic tail and pelvic fracture. Thanks to her determination—and a series of physical rehabilitation sessions—she’s fully back to her normal activity level. Here she is walking in the water like a pup half her age!

❤️ We are so grateful for the opportunity to work with these incredible dogs. Their resilience, spirit, and sweetness make us smile every single day!

Here is Milo working out on the underwater treadmill! Since he first came in for treatment of intervertebral disc disease, he has made such great progress and is feeling much better. We’re so proud of you, Milo!

Intervertebral disc disease (IVDD) occurs when the cushioning discs between the bones of the spine bulge or rupture, pressing on the spinal cord. This can cause pain, weakness, or difficulty walking. Treatment may include rest, medications, surgery in more severe cases, and rehabilitation therapies such as the underwater treadmill. With the right care, many pets can regain mobility and comfort.

Exciting News at Acorn Veterinary Clinic/Oak Tree Animal Rehabilitation !

Today, we performed our very first Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) Injection Therapy on Skipper, a brave 12-year-old Sheltie battling multiple joint osteoarthritis. Our talented team—Dr. Koh, Dr. Blair, and our incredible physical rehabilitation technicians, Barb and Allie—worked together to prepare and deliver this cutting-edge treatment to help Skipper feel his best.

What is PRP Therapy?
PRP is a regenerative treatment that uses a concentrated preparation of the animal’s own platelets to promote healing, reduce inflammation, and stimulate tissue repair. By taking a blood sample, we process it to extract the platelet-rich portion, which is then injected directly into areas like joints, tendons, or muscles.

How Does PRP Help?
✔️ Reduces Pain & Inflammation
✔️ Speeds Up Healing
✔️ Minimally Invasive Alternative to Surgery
✔️ Help Decrease Long-Term Medication Dependency
✔️ Safe with Minimal Side Effects

Conditions We Treat with PRP Therapy:
🐾 Arthritis & Osteoarthritis
🐾 Tendon or Ligament Injuries
🐾 Non-Healing Wounds

We’re thrilled to now offer this advanced therapy to our furry friends in need. Seeing Skipper take the first step toward better mobility and comfort inspires us to continue leading the way in pet care.

Stay tuned for updates on his progress and how PRP therapy could benefit your pet! If you’d like to learn more, give us a call or ask during your next visit.
