Now that the weather is cooling off, pack hikes are back!✨️

Did you know you are able to add this service to any daycare or boarding program?

Honestly, taking your dog out on a trail hike is like hitting a giant hard-reset button on their brain. ✨

Walking around the neighborhood is fine, but getting out in nature gives them room to just... be a dog.

Letting them figure out where to put their paws over roots and uneven terrain (+5 to dexterity points!), and take in all those wild smells is peak mental decompression.

It’s also low-key one of my favorite ways to work on real-world neutrality. Passing someone on a quiet trail or stepping around a weird bug gives them a chance to practice focus and impulse control without all the chaos of a busy park.

Plus, nothing hits quite like that trail nap when you get home🦊✨️

Having Slushie, Biscuit, and Graham as part of our regular pack for the past few years has been such a joy.

One of the most special parts of opening our home for boarding is getting to truly share everyday life with these dogs. They don't just visit, they become part of our home and routine while their owners are away. Watching them, settle in, and show off their unique personalities and get to learn their little quirks in our space is such a privilege. Seeing them grow through the years is very special to us.

•Slushie is hands down the most talkative Husky you’ll ever meet.
•Biscuit is essentially a human in a Golden Retriever suit.
•Graham is the sweetest little soul with the biggest tenacity.

A fun fact is that all three of them are surprisingly big for their breeds. A family of giants with even bigger hearts for sure. 💜

It's Summer! Is your dog ready for the beach tho?.

The beach is one of our favorite places to bring the dogs to (Living in FL, it's too hot to do anything else right now)🫠

Before you pack up your pups, here are some things to consider to make sure everyone has a fun and safe time:

Safety first! Fresh water is a must! Make sure your dog has access to clean drinking water at all times, drinking beach water could get them extremely sick, make sure they do not eat sand either! On the other hand, Not all dogs are natural swimmers, be careful when introducing your pup to the water.

Obedience & Recall: A reliable recall is essential for beach safety. This ensures you can call your dog back if they get distracted or wander too far. If your dog does not have a recall, this is a wonderful place to level up your training, but a leash or a long line are a MUST.

Advocate for Your Dog: Pay attention to your dog's body language. If they seem overwhelmed or uncomfortable, it's your job to step in and give them a break. People often mistake a pushy dogs for a friendly one, so it is important to be prepared to step in if other pups are being too much. At the same time; Make sure your dog isn't being a nuisance to other beachgoers.

Respect the Environment: Clean up after your pet! Leave the beach as clean as you found it and of course respect wildlife💜.

The biggest puppy mistake? Teaching excitement instead of neutrality. 🎮✨️

Most owners think "socialization" means letting their puppy play with every person and dog they see.

But when we let a puppy get super excited during every encounter, we teach them: "The whole world is a playground meant just for me."

The result? A frustrated dog who barks and lunges on leash later in life because they aren't allowed to run up to everyone.

Real socialization is teaching your dog to exist calmly around distractions. Here is why neutrality should be the ultimate goal:

1. It stops leash reactivity

A neutral dog knows that seeing another dog or person doesn't mean they get to play. No expectations = no frustration, no pulling, and no barking.

2. It keeps their focus on you
When the environment isn't a massive source of excitement, your dog will actually listen to you when you ask for their attention.

3. It builds a calm brain
Teaching a puppy to just watch the world teaches them how to relax in stressful or busy places.

How to practice it:

• People watching: Sit at a distance from a park. Let your puppy watch dogs and people pass by. Reward them for just being calm.

• Skip the greetings: Your pup doesn't need to meet every stranger. It’s okay to say, "Sorry, we’re training!" and walk past.

• Focus on exposure: Let them experience new sounds, surfaces, and sights without making it a big, hyped-up deal.

Build a calm, neutral dog now, and you’ll enjoy a lifetime of peace later.

There is something very magical about watching a dog be a dog.

While we train them to navigate our world... if we pay attention, they teach us the most valuable lessons about it in return.

Focusing on the present is so innate for them.

It is a constant reminder to be silly, to chase a leaf, to enjoy rays of sunshine and weather changes, to breathe.
