Last month, Health and Human Service Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced a sweeping new initiative to combat Lyme disease, hinging on a tick-control pilot program which will "develop and deploy practical strategies to target and eliminate ticks on wildlife before they can spread disease to humans”

When an agency promises to remove ticks from the bodies of wild animals at scale, it’s fair to ask: what exactly does this mean for those animals involved?

Friends of Animals will be closely monitoring the situation and, in the meantime, is here to provide you with effective, natural precautions to keep you and your pets safe.

NYC streets have killed another horse. Legislation that would end the carriage horse industry is being reintroduced today. We’re focusing our lobbying efforts on the new Speaker Julie Menin and members of City Council, who have the power to save NYC’s horses from exploitation, misery, and death and get them to accredited sanctuaries. https://friendsofanimals.org/nyc-horses/

This summer, don’t take kids fishing and keep fish off your plate. In FoA President Priscilla Feral's newest In My View, she urges people to truly respect the health of the oceans, birds, and marine life whose environments we share by not competing with them for their food. https://friendsofanimals.org/skip-fishing-camps-this-summer/

We’re calling on our Rhode Island supporters to contact Gov. Mckee and ask him to sign the rodenticide ban into law. We found out that the New England Pest Management Association is livid about this legislation and has launched a so-called "VoterVoice" advocacy campaign urging him to veto the bill and squash the will of RI residents. We can’t let big industry/lobbying interests win over RI’s beloved eagles, owls, hawks and other wildlife. https://friendsofanimals.org/rhodeisland/

On this World Oceans Day, Friends of Animals is highlighting one of the world's most overlooked crises: the booming krill industry, which threatens whales and destabilizes critical Antarctic habitat. It's fueled by fish oil supplements, taken by 19 million Americans, whose health benefits are far from guaranteed.

Learn more about the devastating industry here: https://friendsofanimals.org/krill/

Cheers! BREAKING: For the third consecutive time, the Arctic Refuge lease sale has failed to generate real industry interest. No major oil companies. No credible path to the revenue this administration promised. — Alaska Wilderness League

In 2024, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service approved a senseless plan to save northern spotted owls by advancing the mass slaughter of 450,000 barred owls over the next 30 years and FoA filed a lawsuit to stop it. We will be in court today, June 3, to stop the massacre. Read more here: https://friendsofanimals.org/foa-in-court/
