🐾 WHERE ARE THEY NOW CONTINUES… 🐾
Today we want to tell you about Heidi, another survivor from the same case we’ve been sharing.
When we arrived, the dogs came up to the gates of their kennels to greet us like typical dogs do. But when we looked past them, we saw something that stopped us in our tracks.
Hiding inside a filthy, dirty barrel in the back of a f***s-filled kennel was what looked like a skeleton with fur. We honestly weren’t sure if this little hound was even alive.
One of our staff members had to crawl into that kennel, pick up this starved little girl, and carry her to the van. Heidi was so weak, we weren’t even sure she could walk.
Once we got her back to the shelter, we gave her food, medical care, and lots of love. Then we put her on the scale.
Heidi weighed just 22 pounds. 😢
A dog her size should easily weigh around 40 pounds. She was nearly 20 pounds underweight.
Heidi was loaded with hookworms, fleas, ticks, and all the other things we had sadly come to expect from this case. But she finally had something she had been desperately missing: care and FOOD.
Thankfully, the same rescue who pulled Gunner, WAGS, also saw Heidi and gave her the second chance she desperately needed.
Within just one week, Heidi had already gained enough weight to reach 33 pounds.
It wasn’t anything fancy that she needed. She needed what every dog deserves—food, medical care, a safe place to sleep, and someone to love her.
Today, Heidi is living a life of luxury. ❤️
She will never have to wonder where her next meal is coming from. She will never be forgotten in a filthy kennel. She will never again be neglected or left to waste away.
From a dirty barrel and 22 pounds…
to a life filled with love, safety, full bellies, and happy days.
This is why rescue matters. This is why we keep going. And this is why we will never stop fighting for the animals who cannot fight for themselves. ❤️🐾
Heidi, we are so happy you got your happily ever after
