🧡🐾 In Loving Memory: A Pet Ofrenda of Love and Remembrance 🐾🧡

This Día de los Mu***os season, we’re honored to introduce something very special to our hospital: our very first Pet Ofrenda! 🌼💜

Día de los Mu***os, or Day of the Dead, is a beautiful Mexican tradition that celebrates and remembers loved ones who have passed away. An ofrenda, meaning “offering,” is a special altar decorated with photos, flowers, and meaningful items to honor their lives and keep their memories alive.

We know that our pets are family. 🐶🐱 They fill our lives with unconditional love, companionship, and countless memories that stay in our hearts long after they’re gone. We wanted to create a special space to honor the beloved pets who have touched our lives and left their paw prints on our hearts. 🐾💕

✨ We invite our wonderful clients and friends to be part of our ofrenda!

📸 Share a Photo: Bring us a picture of your beloved pet who has crossed the rainbow bridge, or send us a photo and we can print it for you to add to our display.

🦴 Leave a Favorite Treat: Bring a treat your pet loved so we can include it as a special tribute in their memory.

🌼 Our Pet Ofrenda will be on display October 22 – November 3, with October 27 dedicated to remembering our beloved pets. 🐾

Whether your furry family member is a dog, cat, or another cherished companion, every memory is special, and every paw print leaves a lasting mark on our hearts. We would be honored to celebrate their lives alongside you. 💜

Let’s come together as a community to remember, celebrate, and honor the unconditional love our pets gave us. 🕯️🐾

The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) evaluates veterinary hospitals against rigorous standards covering nearly every aspect of patient care, safety, and hospital operations. From anesthesia and surgery to pain management, medication storage, cleanliness, medical records, and infection prevention, these standards help ensure we’re following the best practices in veterinary medicine.

It means we continually evaluate and improve the way we care for our patients. SWEET KITTEN LOOKING FOR A FOREVER HOME!

This precious little kitten was found as a stray and is now looking for a loving family to call their own! 🥹🐾

They’ve been in for their first visit and have already shown us just how sweet they are! 💕 They’re still too young to start vaccines, so their future family will need to make sure they continue receiving proper veterinary care and vaccinations when they’re old enough. 🩺🐱

Now all this little one needs is a safe, loving home where they can grow, play, and be spoiled for years to come! 🏡❤️

🐶❤️ MEET CLETUS — LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME! ❤️🐾

This adorable little guy named Cletus was rescued as a stray by one of our wonderful clients, and now he’s looking for a loving family to call his own! 🥹🏡

Cletus is estimated to be around 10 weeks old and recently had his very first puppy visit with us to get started on the veterinary care he needs! 🩺🐾 He still has two more puppy visits to complete his vaccine booster series, so it’s important that his future family is committed to keeping up with his vaccinations and routine veterinary care. ❤️

The person currently caring for Cletus wants to make sure he finds a loving home with responsible pet parents who will give him the care, attention, and love he deserves as he grows! 🐶💕

🐾❤️ MEET SOCKS — LOOKING FOR HIS FOREVER HOME! ❤️🐾

This handsome boy, Socks, was rescued from life as a stray by our very own employee, Peyton, and now he’s ready to find a family to call his own! 🥹🏡

Socks is estimated to be around 2 years old and has already had his neuter surgery, vaccinations, FeLV/FIV testing (negative for both!), and a negative parasite test. He’s all ready to start his next chapter! 🐱✨

And his personality? ABSOLUTELY SWEET! 🥰 Socks loves attention, back scratches, cuddles, and being held. He’ll happily purr away and soak up all the love you’re willing to give him! 💕🐾

All this sweet boy needs now is a loving indoor home where he’ll be safe, cherished, and cared for forever. ❤️

Today is Tiffany’s last day at Heartland Veterinary Hospital, and saying goodbye is not easy. 🥹❤️

Since joining us in April 2017, Tiffany has worn many hats throughout her time here. From working in the kennels to becoming a veterinary technician, receptionist, and manager, she has been such a huge part of our hospital and the team we are today.

Tiffany has given so much of herself to Heartland over the years, and her impact on our team, our patients, and our clients will never be forgotten. She has been part of our Heartland family for so long, and it’s hard to imagine things without her here. ❤️

While we are incredibly sad to see her go, we know this is what’s best for her right now, and we want nothing but happiness and good things for her in this next chapter. She will always have a special place in our hearts. 🫶

Tiffany, thank you for the years of hard work, dedication, memories, and love you’ve given Heartland. We love you so much and will miss you more than words can say! 🐾❤️

🦷🐾 WHEN CHEWING GOES TOO FAR 🐾🦷

This sweet pup came to us with severely worn-down canine teeth. The teeth had been worn down so much that the pulp cavity was completely exposed, allowing food and debris to get trapped inside the teeth. 😟

Teeth can become worn down from repeatedly chewing on cages, rocks, bones, antlers, or very hard toys. Over time, this can wear away the enamel—the protective outer layer of the tooth—until the sensitive inner parts of the tooth are exposed.

Unfortunately, both of this pup’s canine teeth were too damaged to save and had to be surgically removed. ❤️

🐶 A good rule of thumb: If you can’t make a mark in a chew with your fingernail, it may be too hard for your pet’s teeth.

Choosing appropriate, veterinarian-recommended chews can help protect those pearly whites! 🦷✨

🐱🔬 A CLOSER LOOK AT LICE! 🔬🐱

This sweet stray cat was recently brought in for care, and during his exam, we noticed tiny white to light-brown dots moving through his fur. 👀

We took a closer look and discovered that these tiny bugs were lice! 🪳🐱 We even examined them under the microscope, where we were able to get an even closer look at what we had found.

We also found lice eggs, called nits, attached all along the individual hair strands. Unlike loose dirt or debris, nits are firmly attached to the hair and can be surprisingly difficult to remove.

Thankfully, we were able to get this little guy treated and taken care of! ❤️🐾

Lice are not something we see very often at our hospital, so this was definitely an interesting case for our team! 🔬🐱

🐾❤️ ROMEO’S HEALING JOURNEY! ❤️🐾

We’re SO happy to share that Romeo is completely healed! 🎉🥹

After 3–4 months of countless treatments, bandage changes, surgeries, and so much hard work, Romeo has finally made it to the finish line! ❤️

His hydrotherapy and laser therapy treatments were such an important part of his recovery. He started with treatments daily and eventually transitioned to weekly sessions, and they helped him tremendously throughout his healing process. 🥰

We’ve included some photos showing Romeo’s progression throughout his healing journey. Looking back at where he started and seeing him completely healed now is truly incredible! 🥹🐾

We also want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone who donated to Romeo’s GoFundMe, shared his story, and supported him along the way. Your generosity helped make it possible for Romeo to receive the care he needed. ❤️
