🌳🍁 Meet Maple! 🍁🌳

This handsome boy got his name after his family found him stuck in a tree—talk about a fitting name! Luckily, Maple’s tree-climbing adventure had a happy ending, and now he’s living the good life with his loving family.

Maple recently visited us for an appointment with Dr. Tamaki, and we were all impressed by what a big, strong, confident kitten he has grown into. He handled his visit like a champion and was more interested in making friends than causing any trouble.

Fun fact: Kittens are natural climbers thanks to their sharp claws and incredible balance, but getting down can be a little trickier than getting up—which is why adventurous little explorers like Maple sometimes need a helping hand!

We’re so glad Maple found his way from the treetops to such a wonderful home. 🍁🐾

Shelby and Zoey go together like peanut butter and jelly! 🥜❤️

Zoey is Shelby’s senior chocolate Labrador Retriever and holds a special place in her heart as her very first dog as an adult. Through every adventure, milestone, and life change, Zoey has been right by her side.

A few fun Labrador facts:

🐾 Labrador Retrievers consistently rank among the most popular dog breeds because of their friendly, outgoing personalities.

🐾 Labs were originally bred as working and retrieving dogs, which is why many of them absolutely love water and a good game of fetch.

🐾 Their thick double coat helps protect them in the water, but it also means they can shed enough fur to make a whole second dog!

🐾 Like all Labradors, chocolate Labs can be prone to health concerns such as hip and elbow dysplasia, obesity, and ear infections, making regular veterinary care especially important.

🐾 Even as seniors, many Labs keep their playful, puppy-like spirit well into their golden years.

We think it’s safe to say Zoey hit the jackpot when she found Shelby—and Shelby would probably say the same about Zoey. 💕

Next up is Shelby!

Shelby is one of our RVTs and has been part of the Danville Veterinary Hospital family for the past 3 years. She brings a bubbly personality, a positive attitude, and just the right amount of organization to help keep up with our daily chaos.

She may be small in stature, but she has a larger-than-life personality that keeps both our team and patients smiling. Whether she’s caring for pets, helping clients, or keeping us all on track, Shelby makes a big impact every day!

Which dog do you think belongs to Shelby!

💌 We have a secret admirer! 💌

A special package arrived at the clinic addressed to our very own Aldora, and we were surprised to find the most fashionable gift imaginable—a pigeon puffer jacket! 🐦🧥

We may never know who our mystery gift-giver is, but Aldora would like them to know that she is honored, grateful, and already working on her runway strut. ✨

Thank you to our anonymous friend for making us smile and adding a little extra fun to our day, whoever you are let us know! The only question now is… does Aldora pull off pigeon couture better than an actual pigeon? 🤔

Drop a ❤️ in the comments if you think Aldora is rocking her new look!

Whoa, that was a tough one! 🐾

Livi has two dogs at home, and one of them is a black long-haired dog named Lexxi. However, that wasn’t the dog in the picture! The mystery pup was actually Scotty, Livi’s dad’s dog. He’s a handful, but Livi loves him too.

So, the answer is… Riley is Livi’s heart dog! ❤️

Riley is a 13-year-old Silky Terrier/Maltese mix and quite literally Livi’s whole world. Livi always thought she would be a “big dog person,” but then this tiny black-and-brown ball of fluff came home and never left her side. That’s right—before turning into the beautiful cream-and-gray senior she is today, Riley was once black and tan! Like many Silky Terriers, her coat gradually lighten as they age.

Fun Facts About Riley’s Breeds:

🐾 Silky Terriers
• Originated in Australia and were bred to hunt rodents.
• Small in size but packed with confidence and personality.
• Known for their intelligence and determination.
• Puppies are often born black and tan, with their coats lightening as they mature.

🐾 Maltese
• One of the oldest toy breeds, with a history spanning thousands of years.
• Bred primarily as companion dogs and thrive on being close to their people.
• Known for being affectionate, playful, and devoted family members.
• Despite their delicate appearance, they’re surprisingly spirited little dogs.

🏥 Health Considerations for Both Breeds
• Prone to dental disease, making routine dental care especially important.
• Can be predisposed to luxating patellas (slipping kneecaps).
• May develop tracheal issues due to their small size.
• Have an increased risk of pancreatitis, so it’s important to avoid fatty table scraps and keep them at a healthy weight.
• Regular veterinary care helps catch age-related changes early and keep them feeling their best.

Riley may be tiny, but she has completely stolen Livi’s heart. ❤️

Riley was not impressed by Dr. Crystal and Livi’s sense of humor today. 😒

They looked at him and said, “Why the long face?”

Judging by that expression, we’d say the joke earned a solid 0/10 from Riley. 😂🐾

🐾 Guess Whose Dog? 🐾

Next up is Livi! Livi has been a Veterinary Assistant at Danville Veterinary Hospital for the past 2 years and is a familiar face to many of our patients and clients.

Livi grew up surrounded by animals of all kinds, including horses, goats, chickens, ducks, rabbits, dogs, and cats. It’s safe to say animals have always been a big part of her life!

As an adult, she currently has two dogs of her own, but like many pet owners, she has one special pup that holds the title of her heart dog. ❤️🐶

For this round, Livi chose her heart dog to see if you can figure out which one is hers!

Drop your guesses in the comments below ⬇️ and tell us what gave it away. Do pets really start to look like their people, or are you just taking your best shot? 🤔

We’ll reveal the answer tomorrow!

A heart dog is that once-in-a-lifetime companion who leaves paw prints on your heart forever. ❤️🐾

The kindness of our clients never ceases to amaze us! ❤️

A few weeks ago, we couldn’t stop complimenting Echo and Kota on their adorable handmade bandanas during their visit. Today, their wonderful owner surprised us with handmade bandanas for all of our staff’s dogs!

It was such a thoughtful and generous gift, and our pups are going to look absolutely adorable sporting them. 🐾

Thank you for taking the time to create something so special for our team. It’s moments like these that remind us how lucky we are to be part of such a caring community. Please join us in giving a big thank you to Echo, Kota, and their amazing family! ❤️

P.S. Prepare yourself. MANY pictures of our pets with their new apparel coming soon.

Bullet is Lorrie’s boy, and he is the very definition of sass. Whether he’s judging your life choices or demanding things be done his way, Bullet always keeps us entertained with his larger-than-life personality. We wouldn’t have him any other way! 🐾❤️
