Whoa, that was a tough one! 🐾
Livi has two dogs at home, and one of them is a black long-haired dog named Lexxi. However, that wasn’t the dog in the picture! The mystery pup was actually Scotty, Livi’s dad’s dog. He’s a handful, but Livi loves him too.
So, the answer is… Riley is Livi’s heart dog! ❤️
Riley is a 13-year-old Silky Terrier/Maltese mix and quite literally Livi’s whole world. Livi always thought she would be a “big dog person,” but then this tiny black-and-brown ball of fluff came home and never left her side. That’s right—before turning into the beautiful cream-and-gray senior she is today, Riley was once black and tan! Like many Silky Terriers, her coat gradually lighten as they age.
Fun Facts About Riley’s Breeds:
🐾 Silky Terriers
• Originated in Australia and were bred to hunt rodents.
• Small in size but packed with confidence and personality.
• Known for their intelligence and determination.
• Puppies are often born black and tan, with their coats lightening as they mature.
🐾 Maltese
• One of the oldest toy breeds, with a history spanning thousands of years.
• Bred primarily as companion dogs and thrive on being close to their people.
• Known for being affectionate, playful, and devoted family members.
• Despite their delicate appearance, they’re surprisingly spirited little dogs.
🏥 Health Considerations for Both Breeds
• Prone to dental disease, making routine dental care especially important.
• Can be predisposed to luxating patellas (slipping kneecaps).
• May develop tracheal issues due to their small size.
• Have an increased risk of pancreatitis, so it’s important to avoid fatty table scraps and keep them at a healthy weight.
• Regular veterinary care helps catch age-related changes early and keep them feeling their best.
Riley may be tiny, but she has completely stolen Livi’s heart. ❤️
