⛅️ Dory at sunset...
Guys I am going to have to PLEAD again. A sanctuary for retired sport horses has to have donations to function and stay open. We have not had a new donation in over 3 months now. We cannot even afford to get the horses trims every 5 weeks with donations; we don't even make $100 a month on donations now. We have had to come out of our own pockets for years with the residents and we knew things wouldn't be great in the first couple years as we grew. But it's getting pretty overwhelming at this point.
The drought in Kentucky, which even after all the rain has still left us in a drought, is only making things worse. The prices for hay will continue to increase because demand will be higher, due to less hay availability. The donations over the past year didn't even pay a penny to the hay requirements for the residents; we paid it all, over $10,000. This doesn't include the every other week grain deliveries at $500 each, or any vet care. Nothing is getting paid.
👉 We need followers to help us spread the word by consistently sharing our posts to your local groups; they do not need to be groups near us and they don't always have to be an animal or farm group, get creative. Sharing to your profile is great but if you have no followers and they don't love horses the way you do, it wont help. We need to get in front of a bigger audience. Sadly, and we have no idea why, we have been blocked from participating in any groups, so we cannot even do it for ourselves.
We had every mower on the property break this past week. Which is mortifying because we paid $500 each big mower, for its annual service and they failed to last even 2 months post service. We are now having to come up with $15,000 out of our own pockets to replace mowers that didn't even last 3 years. It's a fact this property is stunning but it is very hard on equipment!
Times are getting really desperate. We need to find some new donors that share our values and ASAP! We cannot keep our doors open, nor can we support any new horses till we can get donations to support the 18 residents already here. Please help us help them. 😞
